He only has a few with chickens; seems he favors cows!
Of the ones featuring chickens, the one titled "The Egg Basket" is my favorite.
Overall, his paintings romanticize country living.
For example, clean children, day dreaming women, no mud anywhere, why even the the roosts he paints are spotless!
I, for one, happily fall for it!

Interesting how he never shows chickens or even gardens and crops. Three very important things to me, at least.

counts absolutely. did you like it that your parents were hippies? Kind of the Back to the Land movement. Some folks were already back to the land cuz they never left.
I was afraid I killed the line of thought popping in with my excitement over the music.

I was born in the 60's - Summer of Love, and near San Francisco too (Santa Clara). Only my parents weren't really hippies, and I can't remember much from the 60's, though I suppose many hippies can't either

I remember flying on an airplane to my grandfathers funeral in Holland right around my second birthday, I remember when my mom was pregnant with my sister, I remember my dad watching the news from Vietnam every evening when he came home from work, I remember the green bicycle my dad used to ride to IBM every day, I remember people talking about marijuana, and judging by mom's reactions to her name, I thought Marijuana was a very naughty little girl.

When I turned 40, I played the music from that summer all summer long, and when I visit my mom who lives in Santa Cruz now, I can smell that Marijuana is still running around and causing mischief, only I don't think she's so naughty anymore.

I grew up in fifties and sixties. My parents were too busy escaping the land to the white collar world to want to go back to it.

I thought it was you that brought it up about soy protein not being good for chickens, that they need animal protein. My chickens get bugs from free ranging but thought there might be some sort of feed available. And now that you mention fish I think they also said something about feeding fish meal. Maybe it was Chickylady? Also think I read somewhere some supplement with meat based dry dog food. Anyone else heard of that?
