what about a summer camp out? I used to be part of a group of friends (I was a friend of one of the friends so got to go a few times) who went to 1 persons large field/property for a over night camp out. They had a large BBQ grill going for food, everyone brought stuff like chips, salads, deserts, etc. to share and meat for the grill to cook for their family. Basically a large pot luck with overnight accommodations in the field (tents rv's vans etc). I think everyone also chipped in for the porta-potty too.

This made it great for those who came a long way and also allowed people to party with no worry about having to get home in the middle of the night cuz they were having to much fun!

Its a option if anyone had the space.

My family does this exact thing twice each summer! The 4th of July and some time in the end of summer. "the date is never the same." Parking is on my property, and camping and other activities are next door at my Mothers property. Its always a blast but OH so much work, as nobody seems to know what a pot-luc is anymore... Now if I didn't have horses ocupying 85% of my property, lol I could host here. But with the horses I just dont think I have the room.

I know what the word Pot-luck means and I ALWAYS bring more than my fair share....trust me I won't disappoint you if you decide to do something like this. Cross-my-heart.

It was snowing here in Maple Leaf for about an hour maybe, great big flakes. THen it turned into rain. None stuck on the ground.

I was trying ot get my light sussex to go into their roosts when it started snowing. Those things do not like to go to roost or in teh nest boxes. They would rather sleep on the ground. Ill have to teach them or figure something out as they are getting dirty from sleeping in the holes they dug out.

I forgot who posted it now...but the garabage eating dog's parents got what they deserved.

The neighbors that share most of our back fence leave their dogs (they had 2 when we moved in 3.5 years ago and have "gone through 4 others to the 1 they currently have) outside 24/7, at least until this newest one gre up, and they tear their yard to shreds. I had to go into it 2 summers ago because my next door neighbor's dog dug into the yard and fell into the in-ground pool (she doen't know how to swim and was tangled in the pool cover). No one but me was home, so I ran around the block (down 1, over 1, back up 1) to the front of the house, broke into their yard (the other couple that shares our back fence actually helped do that), and pulled the dog from the pool. While I was there I got the up close aroma of what happens when you NEVER pick up after your dogs. There was poo everywhere (including up my pant legs since I had to kneel next to the pool to reach the dog in the water)! It smelled to high heaven too!

I have almost made a ritual of calling animal control on this neighbor each summer...they have left a puppy with no food/water/shelter in 100+ weather tied to a tree stump (on 12" of leash because the rest of the chain got tangled up around said stump), they have starved dogs (I was feeding them our dog's food through the fence on a daily basis), and when the other dog fell in the pool I called the police who transferred me to animal control (who never showed up...that's anoter rant though). I truly believe some people should not be allowed to have pets.

Anywho, my point is, I think what you did was perfect!
