Ice packs and heating pad will help too. Do a 10 minutes Ice on and then change for the the Heat for 10. Ibiprofen for the pain and swelling. He can take up to 4 per dose, but not more than 8 a day. It's weird I was doing kind of the same thing for my parents back in 2003. lol

Is there anything wrong with feeding them dry cat food? Maybe soaked in milk?

This was close to my thoughts. Why not feed a dog food like Taste of the Wild. It is a grain free dog food. So the major ingredients is basically meat. I would also think that quality cat food would work. I feed my cats a kibble that has 40% protein. Of course the cats still think that I should supplement their food with canned food. But as far as I can tell canned cat food has very little protein in it, and I know that the cats need the protein.

Do you normally get snow there or is this out of the ordinary ?

We get snow, just not a lot at one time. the average is around 20 inches. Also most of the time it is so windy that the snow just drifts. Todays snow was very dry and we have very little wind. The winds come tonight and tomorrow.

We have had winds coming from the East for the past couple of days. The wind feels bitterly cold. I know that it can get a lot colder, but that just makes me cranky.

so what caused it is what we are trying to figure out, and how long has it been going on with your friend ? Over a year ?

she doesn't know.. she figures it is some sort of allergy. it was wine that did it typically. It started about 3 years ago. She doesn't drink wine anymore.

if it's just wine that does this to her, then it is most likely sulfite. They add sulfite to most commercial wine. I think it is a preservative. All white wines have it in them, and It is very hard to find a red without.

lol If it was just a dull pain, I would still have one now and then. I can handle dull pain, but the searing pain, like hot iron being shoved in my joints, I can't handle.

My family thinks its all in my head, and hey! Maby it is. But I still wonder and sometimes want a little sipper.

It's not in your head. My mom gets it and there is a name for it. I'm thinking it is possibly an indicator of an autoimmune type condition ... I tuned it out because mom is a hypochondriac. I will ask her next time she's willing to talk to me. (She's angry with me because she siad I did not call to wish her a Happy New Year, only I'm certain I did. I called in the morning on the 31st to get it over with because when she is feeling sorry for herself, she gets mean and says unkind things about everyone. I figured it would be better to end 2010 on a bad note than to start 2011 on a bad one, so I called on the 31st and sent her a card onthe first)

You are a wise child. It's a shame that it didn't work as well as it should have.

I have bought sulfite free wines at Central Market. You could ask at QFC, too.
