There are all these news stories on the web about a possible 'Arkstorm' in California's future. I think we are being hit by it right now! I did see the weather forecast now shows a 48 hour break in the rain starting Wednesday. Do you believe it?

Edited because I'm careless

Hi everyone! I haven't been on BYC for quite a while--6 months? I met some of you at a get together last spring in Kirkland. Since then I got extremely busy with my landscaping business, but my hens are still doing well (though not laying!). I hope to spend more time here, and perhaps on the illness forum, but not go overboard this time. (Everything in moderation!!).

Would anyone be kind enough to give me a brief synopsis of goings on in the area? Or even big changes/events here on BYC?

Hey what do you all think about the brown coloring on this girls back? I'm assuming that she is a hatchery delaware type, but honestly don't know. But ever sense she molted she now has kinda a chocolaty brown color at the tips of what used to be black...

At first I thought it was dirt, but I brought her inside yesterday to wash and dry her off, and its still there. So what do you all think of my strange little hen?

Well, your main problem is that she's likely a mutt, not a Delaware. Whatever the brown is, it is there because of that.

Delawares should have barred tails and neck feathers, not solid black. I think whatever else is in her is showing up through the brown feathers.

posting pics and then I have to go back through posts while making grilled cheese AND watching our Sea Birds get wiped like TOILET PAPER ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I know I met ya there. But can't seem to put a face to the name. Were ya on the end of the tables away from where Ron and Kim were?
Nice to see ya back. and as far as catching up well that would be MANY books. We have several junior (new) people here and still a few of us senior (

) people.
One thing that I will mention. If you are interested in an alternative to feed store feed there is one in Winlock and some people have even been able to get Scott to deliver to the Seattle area.

I suppose it will be pretty dead in here most of the day as too many people will be watching chickens. Yup thats right watching SEA CHICKENS get plucked !!!!!

I think maybe I need a flock of them SEA CHICKENS. They would be easy to keep since they can't fly and are slow runners they are easy to catch.

It may go over the road out front, but it cannot get us way up our driveway...WA4HPoultryMom, Greg and Monicas out on Duvall-Carnation-Monroe area will get flooded before we will.
Now the Chehalis may flood Chehalis and I-5 again...that was BAD!
But with King Tides, all the rivers will be held back by the Tides.
And the snow melt hasn't even begun yet...

Oh ya, I remember when I-5 flooded. It was very bad.

Well, I guess there is one good thing about having glacial till soil. It does drain pretty well.

Since it is warm out was thinking this would be a perfect day to clean out the greenhouse and I will stay dry.

Seems like I'm not that close to most people on this thread but if anyone gets flooded and needs help let me know. I can make room for extra chickens for a while. I even have room for a few livestock. I am about 25 minutes from the Narrows Bridge just outside of Gig Harbor. There is not too much flooding around here since we are not near any big rivers but just sayin. I have room if you need it.

Ive got room also if anyone needs help! We don't flood where we are at. I have one empty pasture, and can easily throw a pen together if someone needs a safe place for birds!
