Sounds good about the RIR. Im more concerned about egg laying in these as opposed to show quality. I would prefer they be true to type and breed but Im not going to pass over good laying hatchery type either.

Pretty soon you will be as carzy as the rest of us; spending all your hard earned vacation funds on more chicken coops while the kids cry every time a friend comes back from Disney World because they've never seen Mickey Mouse! (Actually, my kids have become just as chicken crazy as we are, and we have not been to Disney World, but I charged all my chicken coops on my Disney Visa so we may be taking a trip to Florida pretty soon!)

I don't like to give out names and phone before getting permission. So I contacted one of my sources and he has nothing until fall. The guy I got mine from is at a show in Stockton, CA this weekend so will check with him Monday. And I called the 3rd and got no answer so will call later in the day.
These all originated from some body in NY.
Just so you have an idea. I bought mine at the show in Chehalis. He had pairs for $25 but since at that time we didn't have a place for a roo we only wanted hens. We got 3 pouletts at point of lay for $40. Now keep in mind that the prices may change but that gives ya an idea what to expect.

I'm sorry you are not doing well. It must be the buckwheat, but I have never heard of buckwheat reacting like that either. Weird...
I am sad about the duckles. I've been eagerly following the progress and so excited for little babies. It's so strange cuz all along they have been so active and growing.

You sure do work fast CR. You must have been doing a lot of climbing and in a hurry or eithre just wanted to climb once and get it done with in a hurry lol. Thanks.

How are yours temeramentally? Are they friendly enough to handle? Do they come to you or are they flighty and take off over the fence in a hurry? IM looking for something that is small, lays decent for a bantam, a dual purpose kind of deal, and would bear confinement well in the event of freezing or storm they could be put in the basement or garage. Bantams are about the right size to not destroy the yard completely.

I got some eggs from Heather I think it was for the Light Sussex, they are very friendly and are easy to pick up. They come running when they are in or out the coop and I havent seen them fly at all so far. They are about perfect for me here in Maple Leaf. They are pretty quiet but they are getting to be so big I think they might actually be Royal Palm turkeys.

Help! I lost a BLRW last night due to an egg getting stuck. I am in need of a BLRW hen or a Splash. I listed under wanted but would prefer Washington pickup. ANYBODY???? PM me with price and info please. I have some here from Barber line that I got two years ago and I am working on my breed. I have both splash and blue and would like either. If you know of any please let me know. Would like 5 month old to 18 month and healthy girls. Thanks!

The RIR B are very calm. I ask one of the local breeders about them and he said "yes if you want them to move out of your way ya just about have to kick em". Ours will come running when they see us headed to the coop/run and if you aren't careful they will sneak out the door with ya. Any time we go in to do something they are right there to inspect. They will allow us to touch and I think they would do ok being handled. I am currently saving eggs so I can get a doz weight. I will post it when I do. I have weighed some single eggs and they are between small to med on the scale as singles.

I wish - it's the boring stuff like laundry and housecleaning (windows, floors, and abundant cobwebs) that's keeping me away today ... neglected for too long. I would be embarassed if anybody just dropped by. I was so hoping for nice weather as my yard can really use a good clean-up too. It's amazing how many weeds have popped up everywhere!

I had some errands to run.
