Community Supported Agriculture - supposed to be locally grown stuff. I get mine through Full Circle, but they have deals with farms all up and down the West Coast, clear down into Argentina, though most of the stuff is local.

JBear I gotta thank you again. lol Your girls are rubbing off on Larry. He screams bloody murder whenever I have to catch him, he did last night as a matter of fact. your girls walk right up so I can pick them up. tonight I picked up the bigger girl and then Larry....Who did NOT have a cow and scream his lil head off. wow! I have brought them in the house last two nights as I dont want them with the bigger birds yet. I give them a little treat in here and pet them quietly. Larry did not panic tonight when I caught him but also when I petted them in their crate. How cool is that! yaaay for chickens raised by kids lol

Thats an interesting looking bird Chickielady, I dont know anything about colors. whats the difference between cuckoo and barred?

You and my DH would really get along ... he's the biggest word weirdo I know! (I have a 100 point handicap when I play scrabble with him, and with other people, I usually win!). I'll ask him what a word means, and he'll go in to the origins, how it has been modified through history and also uses a lot of words like "dipthong" when he's describing how a word should be pronounced. I don't even know what a "dipthong" is; I picture the other type of thong with a bad elastic, or someone stepping into a cold creek on a hot day with zorries on their feet; not how you are supposed to move your mouth when speaking!

I think the sugar ruins yam, as yams are already sweet, the marshmallows make them nasty! I do like a little butter, but usually just prefer yams plain baked. Now brown sugar on oatmeal, yum!!

I wish FC would have winter squash more often. I used to do Jublilee Farms CSA, but their neighbor (and they are friends) was Full Circle, and FC was growing so fast, Jubilee sold to them and the owners moved to North Bend where they own The Nursery at Mt. Si. (I don't know the folks at FC, but the people from the nursery are some of the nicest people I've ever met, very involved with the community). Though the box is often full of carrots, parsnips, beets, and potatoes, I too am a bit disappointed in how much of the food from FC is not local. I noticed the Kiwis are from the Northern California town where my sister lives. I try and do my best. I get our beef from a farmer in Duvall, And I noticed that Smith Brothers dairy has a nice selection of other locally produced items (right now I'm craving The Greek Gods Yogurt).

We normally zip right thru the kiwis but it seems like we've had a lot of them lately and I think the kids grew tired of them. I really like with Full Circle how you can pick and choose what goes in the box, so if you don't want the stuff from Mexico, you can pick the local stuff. I also like how you pay by the box, instead of coming up with a huge chunk of change each season.

Chickielady, you GO GIRL!!!! You are INDEED the chickie lady!!! Or will be soon! LOL!!!!

I usually grow enough winter squash for us to use through the winter. It keeps so well. I was a bit short this year though, none of my acorn squash plants made it. I did have a ton of butternut squash though which is my favorite. The delicata and spaghetti and hubbard squashes have grown well for me, although none of us really like the hubbard ones. Tasted kind of watery to us.

Have you tried Root Connection in Woodinville?
They are a small farm that sell cas type boxes & they grow lots of it there at the farm & you can go cut herbs yourself.
My girlfriend & I tried it once, but I grow my own greens now. More fun...and I only grow the stuff I like to eat...or sell at our restaurant.
They also sell organic BIG tomato plants from their greenhouse. Love them.
