Congrats about the most recent eggs. . . Golly not even I pack mine like that.

Well, today we went hogwild on buying stuff.
big_smile.png
Worthy stuff, I might add.

We bought 10 fruit trees to add to our current collection (some cherries, a few more peaches, a couple apples, a few more plums, and a few more pears)

We bought 12 MORE varieties of tomatoes, now totaling that up to 24 varieties total of tomatoes.

Some of those varieties, wow. . . . Talk about amazing flavor description, awesome shape, and seriously out of this world colors too. We will be owning every color and shape and taste and type of tomato you can imagine this year.
lol.png
As someone told me, we'll be pooping out tomatoes.

We also finally bought a new variety of Quinoa, hardier to rain than others, and more Oaxacan Green Dent Corn. We only have 10 kernels to plant because of our neglection of our last crop 2 years ago, so we'd like a fresh new start with plenty enough to start from.

Oh, and remember the 200+ "mini cupcakes/brownies" I showed last time that were the planted tomato and pepper seeds? Well, I've got 3 inch tall babies now!!!

The peppers are coming along very slowly, but the tomatoes are taking off like weeds.

Aaaaahhh. . . SPRING is in the air.

ETA - Oh yeah, and I couldn't help myself. . . Though it will be a great challenge to me, I bought myself even MORE melon seeds too. We already have quite a few from last year and the year before, but now I want to expand.

OMG! Is it time to plant already? My yard is floating on an inch of water.

I have been so busy planning out my new duck yard I forgot to start my plants!
I'll have to go to Molbaks Nursery to get some seeds from Irish Eyes.

What other plants have you got besides tomatoes & peppers??
I don't have enough sun for that or the peppers, although I am building a new garden in a sunnier part of the yard.
Anyone out there have some comfrey?? I hear it makes ducks lay plenty of eggs. My ducks are currently on strike.

Tomatoes and peppers are the only things I've actually started so far. We start them early indoors so when they're mature, it is warm out there. Gives 'em a headstart.

In a little bit we'll be doing the carrots, lettuce, peas, etc.

After that or during the time will be potatoes, onions, melons, squashes, corn, beans, quinoa, amaranth, tef, and other assorted veggies.

Hey Illia,

You have been in a posting frenzy lately.

You have left me sitting by the side of the road, in your dust.

(chavez is my last name) . . . But honestly, most of my posts are from naming chicken breeds and talking about chicken breeds and breeding/genetics

What kind of hatching eggs are they? Happy belated bday! And I'm thankful to hear about NO RA!
smile.png

The only thing I don't like about the pack job above is that the eggs are on their sides...sometimes this will disrupt the air cells too much. I always pack mine fat end up.
wink.png

I do fat side up also..but so I have heard that if tossed far enough that matters little..and these eggs that just came are Wheaten Ameraucana, and Blue Wheaten Ameraucana, and White rocks that got all busted up were for the RIW breeding program as MOT has a slant back like a turkey
he.gif

And there are still more eggs coming...DH is on the ball building coops with exterior nest boxes but sandwiched between 2 pieces of OSB is 1/2 styrofoam for totally awesome insulation..(like a SIPS panel) no cold walls and no condensation means no moldy wet coop.
I LOVE DH>>>

OK, also wanted to say that hatched already among a stampede of other chicks, appears to be 2 black ameraucanas....and their beard /muff so big and fluffy that the baby may have chore to see.
Beautiful BBS Ameraucana chicks...WA-4HPoultryMom!!!
wee.gif

OK on and on, still 10 more BBS Am eggs to pip and 29 W & BW Am eggs in the sportsman...and about 15 of my BBS Am eggs..along with 15 Silver Cuckoo eggs.
Cochins are not laying..Clarence is not mounting.
sad.png

But they are on pasture, great feed, great water and vitamins..and when they do, I will have more in the sportsman

So the only plants you start indoors are the peppers & tomatoes? You plant all the other straight in the ground?

WOW!

I have to start almost everything inside...then go to the nursery and buy the BIGGEST tomato plant I can find. Found a 5 footer last year.

No no, most of our plants start indoors.

We learned the HARD way not to start stuff outdoors around here. Had a whole huge bed filled with easy stuff (lettuce, carrots, broccoli, etc) What happened? It rained so much that everything drowned except the peas, which didn't do too well anyway.

No, we start stuff indoors except crops and a few other things, we just aren't starting them yet. Tomatoes and Peppers require a longer time than most other of our plants. The maturation of their fruit takes quite a while in our lack of sun. Our crops also require a lot too, but I can't grow a whole crop indoors then transplant it outdoors
