I would like to try and start a local work party gathering!
I was thinking that people who need help building coops, starting gardens, fencing yards, etc etc... We could have gatherings to help out and socialize! Host of the party provides food and peeps bring their own drinks?? Peeps can help out with ideas, help with labor, providing tools or helping find materials. What do you all think?

Kind of like a barn raising in the older days!

Also would anyone be interested in a local gleening (gathering food that would otherwise go to waste such as fruit trees, extra veggie in the gardens, wild berries, etc) and canning/preserving gatherings?

Example:
I know where there is a ton of plum trees that the fruits go bad every year. We could work together and gather them all in a day then make jam/jelly/preserves with the fruits gathered and split the goods! Everyone would chip in with the picking/hauling/ingredients/cooking/canning.

*My mom has canned just about anything, so tons of knowledge and experience available for this gathering.

Any one interested?

Will pizza and beer work?

What a GREAT idea, we have been trying to find a group of people to do this so we can help each other put most of them think its great and than dont.
Id love to learn more about canning, Ive done jams and jellys and some cuc. but want to do chicken and other things this year. Would love to try and do all my food for the winter and not have to go to the store. I know thats a dream but could do a lot of it. I get our beef from a friend down the road. So Iknow its pretty safe.
Im in. It would be good to see if doing that we could find a school that would let us use it or there is a comerical kitchen in West Seattle that we could rent.
Does everyone know that there is a Seattle coop. Its been running small but they are trying to find a new place for it and get it going.

Your both doing great. Id love to try and build something but my husband stops me each time. He does it and tells me to stay away.. The only bad this with this is I have my idea and he has his. Guess who wins yep he does. But hay at least it gets done.
Next thing I have for him to do is chicken feeders. Like the ones that open up when they stand on them. But Im trying to figure how many can eat at one. Can you say 38 NOT.

T Hi
Thanks.
