Ladies and gents, you like your birds, you think they are all that and a bag of chips, and the proof is in the pudding! Come compare apples to apples and see how your bird measures up against others of the same breed. If you raise pure breed poultry this is a great opportunity to get informed, educated opinions on your birds from experienced fanciers.

Also, please consider donating to the egg auction, chick auction, or silent auction. I am donating one blue or black silkie pullet that is at point of lay or already laying,.... SQ silkie pullet.

They are the best! I love how they look & I know that if I get hatching eggs from them, the babies will look beautiful as well.

...and if you like chickasauraus birds, CL has them.

I have Araucanas as well, which are super layers, friendly birds, lay large blue eggs, and are super good moms and very broody. They're even hardier than Ameraucanas, but smaller. They have no tail, beautiful curling feathers coming from each side of their faces, and come in some beautiful colors.


I'm not within 2 hours of you but I do meet up. I also have Olive Eggers, which are a cross of Marans and Araucana. They're very big, lay big, dark, olive green eggs, and have the good traits of both breeds combined.

Welcome, Id say with your kids maybe getting into 4-H go to a breeder. Years ago we got birds for my son at the feed store and than went to the 4_h meeting, we both went home in tears none of his birds could show in anything they said. So we did Dairy Goats for his project.
We have French Black Copper Marans, our bloodlines come from back east from so really nice breeders back there, and I also offer a few Bluce Copper Marans and than when the Wheatons start really laying them and than of course the EE. All of our girls and boys are nice.
There have been a lot of BYC folks who have started with my BCM.

Oh how old are your kids? If they are younger you might want to go for a smaller bird to start with.
Good luck with what ever way you go.

When we first started years ago I only wanted 4 by the time two weeks had gone by we had 10 chicks. I learned to stay out of the chicken area at the feed stores, just couldnt pass them up.
