A fertile egg will have a white bullseye in the yolk verses an irregular edged circle. Blood spots in eggs is not an indication of fertlity.
Would it indicate a fertile egg that is growing? The blood spot was less like a spot and more like a smear.
Probably not. Blood spots are a common occurence and are more noticable in a very fresh egg and tend to dissipate as the egg gets older. An egg that is growing will have more than just a smear of blood. There will also be little veins developing along the shell. There are websites with good pictures of developing embreyos. Can't recall any right now but you could do a search or if anyone knows a good one off hand can you post a link?
