Is he gorgeous or what ?
I like the way his back has leveled out.
As MOT has grown in the last few weeks, his tail has grown, has his sickle feathers now, and his back suddenly appears so much more level now that he has a tail...

Well wheres the progress pics the CL??? lol Or are you gonna make us all wait until the show?

Did I hear you are from Cali? I'm an ex-Cali gal. Modesto area. Welcome to the wet side! I'm still not used to it after 25 years.

Helllo, fellow Californian!

Wow. 25 years is a long time to live in such a rainy state.

Have you started growing moss in your hair yet?

Illia, due to some online stalker problems I had in the past, I'm trying to avoid giving out too much information about where I live. But no, I'm not very near to Forks as far as I know.

X 10 DW's nephew had a face to face with a cat this winter. Had his dog not gone down the trail right ahead the cat would have got him. As it turned out the dog ran by and the cat tried to pounce but missed the dog. Lucky he had a rifle with and was able to take care of business. Otherwise him and or the dog would have been dinner.

And NEVER count on being able to see a cat if it is there. They are called the grey ghost for a reason!!!! They can be watching you. I can tell you from one incedent I had that if a cat is watching you it may very well make yer hairy neck have a bad hair day !

I use sand...I get sacks of dry sand for my coop dust baths & poop trays..and the little boogers in the brooder get sand too.
They need it to digest, and it is non flammable

So we do not worry about igniting the brooder.
I caught the little devils fighting over & trying to eat shavings before, but it has never seemed to harm them.
On the other hand, while using shavings, I had several babies get busted toes that ended up curling back and it was a pain to tape their toes straight.
The shavings act like snow drifts and I suspect that is why I had broken toes.
I switched back to sand in the brooder & have no more broken toes again.
To clean it, I use one of those big green square grain scoops like Blue Ducklings posted, and scoop it out and right into the garden beds it goes, really helps with the sticky clay soil here.

Ooo, good idea! We have the nasty red sticky messy clay too.

I've put a bunch of sand in the brooder. Great idea!! I really like it. The new duckie princess likes it too.
I have her in one of my giant coolers and it is all quiet now, waiting for Duckie to hatch.
I think I'm going to put sand in the duck coop too. Afterall, ducks probably sleep on sand in the wild.
