Just so you know if you try for a roo from your stock pick eggs from the nice sweet docile hen.
Man hater traits are normally passed from hen to chick.

It is true.
Even the sweetest hen in the world, can lay eggs that hatch into one nasty cockeral after another.
I have been told to try and remember which hen the nasty cockeral came from, and either cull her so it stops, or cull her male offspring so it stops.
Edited so as not to confuse, I hope.

Very interesting....did not know this. Our poor little Roo - his name is Tyson - not for the fighter but for the frozen chicken products, which he will become a frozen chicken product if he does not shape up. He is so pretty though. He gets jealous when we love up his girls, give them treats. The girls will come running to us and it makes him mad. LOL. So after reading my post and then your response....I got to thinking...Ican't keep one of my own chicks anyway for a roo as they would all be related, well at least the one hen would be his mother. All my "ladies" are very tame and nice, if the "nice" gene is passed by mommy then we would get a nice roo out of them.

You can breed mother to son and father to daughter, it's when you start breeding full sisters and brothers that things get yucky...

I just made 2 nasty roos into frozen chicken products today!! LOL Their names were Psycho, and Nugget!

This sounds like something we should do at the Feed Store in Monroe during the Show...the big feed store right by the fairgrounds gate.
Then we will win, and all of us can fight over the prizes..OR we can have our own raffle, with all of us that are participationg, like sell tickets for $1 and the proceeds go to our get togethers for renting halls & so forth..sounds good to me !!

Okay, off subject.

DD just came up to me and said, "Here they are".
My response: "What are there?".
DD: "Your cloggers.".
"My what?"
"Your cloggers."
I look in the bag she has...She has all my corks (that I have saved/kept) from bottles of wine that I have drunk over the past ?.
"those are not called cloggers."
"Well, they clog your wine from coming out of the bottle when it is tipped over."

Tell me, how do you argue with that logic?

I have a bunch!!!!!!!!! Nice big raspberries..and I need to find out how many Cheryl wants, but Dad said come dig up as many as you like cuz they root & will invade your yard.
I pulled/dug up 1 plant and it came out of the ground with about 5 feet and 6 or so other plants on it like a necklace !!

So how many does Cheryl want ?
You need to plant them in a big planter box, or they will root and root and root...

NOT TRUE!!
A sweet heart hen can lay eggs that hatch mean cockerals.
If you are collecting eggs, try and remember who laid what, and after a hatch, leg ring the chicks.
If one grows up mean you will know who the mother was, and either cull her male offspring forever more, or cull her to prevent the further procreation of mean male offspring.
A sweet hen does not guarrantee a sweet cockeral.
OK ? I know it is hard to understand.

Zgoatlady,
We have quite a patch of raspberries that have kind of gone wild. The first came from my grandmother's garden maybe 30 years ago. Mom says they originally came from the experimental garden/farm place in Puyallup a LONG time ago. (Grandpa grew glads so the people over there were all friends of his.) If we get a decent summer they produce big delicious berries. I have no clue what variety they might be - they could be the only ones. I would be happy to dig some up for you.
