Well I got caught up again on the posts. I am going to need to go to bed earlier tonight. I think I only got 4 hours of sleep this morning. I really prefer to get about 8 hours. I just don't seem to sleep at the same time as most people do.

I love Heathers Sussex chickens.

All this talk about incubators has got me very envious. I have a bator, but my SiL has it full at her house. Maybe I could get some tester eggs, and slip them under Inky. Inky as gone broody again. Silkies just can't seem to help it I guess. Poor Winky and Floozy are molting right now. There are feathers everywhere.

I sent you a pm I'm not sure if you got it though...We wrote up some plans and it just doesn't work out. The only way to get it in our yard would be to heave it over the fence

what a bummer though it would have made such an easy coop

Glad I'm not the only one - I thought it was a turtle head! Then I noticed the color, but still, first glance, turtle head is what I think of!

Ditto, I thought they were real too.

Russ

Me three or four. I had to study it out, and I am still not quite sold on the fact that they are cupcakes.

I'll volunteer to taste test them for you ... after I eat 3 or 4 of them, I should know if they are cupcakes!

Congrats! I'll let you know how long it takes once I get mine since I just ordered last Friday. Finally broke the news to DH that I'd ordered mine as he and his buddy were having a beer after a long day coop building. He was tired enough that I'm not sure it actually registered though.!

Congratulations to you too. Yes, the best time to tell them is when you did, friends around a beer or two, exhausted from workng all day...good for you. I am so eggcited.

Took 8 days from date of shipment confirmation! So not that long. They are very quik to get them out.

Oh, my gosh.....now I am really eggcited. Only 8 days.

RFF: How long will your test eggs last? Oh my. I am eggcited.

How long can you hold any egg before putting it in a incubator? Okay, I need "Hatching Eggs in an Incubator for Idiots" book. Time to go read on the BYC forum how to do it correctly.

Ond of your hens has been named "Floozy". Is she in the red-light district?

Poor girl, I bet the other hens laugh at her. Course, the other dogs laugh at the dog that I wash with the "apple" scented shampoo. Oh, the humiliation.

I have done 3 week old eggs, 3 of 8 hatched.

I have heard 3 to 4 weeks but your hatch rate goes way down.

A friend of mine had a good hatch rate with egg that had been washed and stored in a refrigerator.
