So I set the eggs from CL last night at 11PM! The incubator still looks so empty with a dozen in there! lol But its holding temp, humming away, and the turner is doing its job! Now to just wait, and sit, and wait some more!

Wish me luck. I WILL NOT open the bator until day 7 or 8. I dont plan on candleing more than 3 times... I can do it!!! Yes I may just turn out to be a hatch aholic! lol My DH was so excited last night, that he plugged in the incubator before I was ready too! lol As much as he moaned about me wanting an incubator, he sure is excited about having it here and setting eggs in it! lol Silly little man!

Oh he complained the entire time, until it showed up on our porch! lol He almost didn't wait for me to get home from work before opening it!

I told him he better not touch that box. lol And then when Chickielady's box arived yesterday, he got even more excited, but allowed me to open and unwrap the eggs, without any interuption. Then I had to explain WHY they must rest... I think I explained that about 6 times last night. He wanted me to just toss them in and turn it on!

I'm glad he is showing excitement. lol It makes me smile, as he usually just complains or half heartedly pays attention when I talk to him about my birds. lol He doesnt totally understand the infatuation I have with birds, but he is coming around nicely!

I was SHOCKED when my DH proved he knew that "Salmon" was a "variety" of Faverolles!!! I was quizzing my son on the accepted varieties of bantam Favs, and from the other room, DH yells "salmon"! WTH???

You are still getting this cock from her for me to pick up, right ?

Yes

OK ! I am ready!!
I really cannot waite to see him, she has some beautiful birds!!
I may be tempted myself, I am looking for a W-BW Ameraucana cockeral...young I hope.
I have a mess of pullets but I want new blood for the flock, not breeding brother to sister.
All the W&BW cockerals I have will have to go, as a result.

I may have said this before but my DH said no way!! no chickens!! they stink and poop on everything!!!! I said yeah yeah I know... He built me a chicken run the day I went to go get my chickens. Then he built me an indoor coop inside the shed the run was attached to. He did not want them to freeze. Then he got worried a coyote or dog would get them and brought me in a mini 14 rifle to protect them. Then he shot at the coyote twice himself to protect them. THEN he bought me an incubator so I could hatch eggs. He watched the whole thing with me and added water for me when I was away. Then he insisted I get my lone Serama his own wives when I borrowed a big rooster and broke his heart (thanks JBear!). Then he goes out and talks to them every day and checks to make sure they are ok. Then he started catching the shy or mean ones and petting them so they will be tamer. NOW he is making the indoor coop bigger and helping me make another pen for more chickens... he he he...

Just talked to T, she went to the ER last night with the pain so bad, they did a cat scan & there is no appendicitis, we discussed if maybe she has celiac disease and she said she was tested for it years ago and it was negative.
So it maybe Ulcerative Colitis or maybe a polyp problem, hope not, that would be CC we are talking about.
sad.png

She was releaes this morning & is exhausted, got 2 hrs of sleep so I was lucky in not waking her.
She also said she will see her doc for a referral to get a colonoscopy today I guess.
She said her head is pounding, needs to eat but is nauseous, and her blood sugar is probably negative for lack of eating.
So will let her sleep, and she said she will log on tonight to talk with you all.
I am super surprised she wasn't given a colonscopy the very second this problem began, given the history...keep your fingers crossed for T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so worried about her.
She has almost no paycheck now after almost 2 weeks of no work..and is putting in for bus driver's donated sick leave pay, Zgoatlady probably knows about that.
T said it is when driver's have alot of sick leave they can donate to those who have none.
Wish I had something to help her.

I feel so bad for her and helpless !

My sweet sweet man has been hashing and ciphering for a week on the design of our new coop.
he wants to be sure they are safe, insulated, and it is easy for me to clean and collect eggs.
he is also aware of the bird's heigth, weight, and size so they can all fit on the perches without tails getting mushed or getting on each other's nerves if they need be locked in during storms.
He just came inside & showed me plans.
Sometimes he feigns he doesn't know a Java from an Ameraucana, then last night he came in and said the Blue Ameraucana Cock was at the Cochin's gate fence fighting with Clarence.
Clarence just stands there, but the Am was head bobbing, quite funny as the Am is less than half the size of the Cochin Clarence.
I just looked at DH..he actually KNEW the breeds and names !
he chased Jazz off (the Blue Am) and that was that.
He really loves the whole farm thing although he does not get involved in coop cleaning and such.
he has gathered hatching eggs, and penciled their breed on the egg although he wrote on the pointy end

, he is a sweetie pie.

He has gone back to his shop to design the foundation, and we will begin building Sunday probably, these Javas are getting big & need their own coop!!!
