I'm so sorry for you and your mom. I hope she has a speedy recovery. My mother had a similar accident a few years back, and unfortunatley, her body rejected the plate, screws and pins they used to reconstruct her ankle and tibia, so the recovery was slow. After I had to return to Washington, I had a friend visit her nightly and make her a really strong strawberry daquiri each night - sure improved her mood! (of course my mom seldom drinks, so my friend added just a lillte more alchohol to it with each one until she was pretty much swimming in it).

Has anyone contacted you about picking up stuff for the Chicken show? I can likely come Saturday afternoon (I have another coop to pick in Seattle in the morning ... ooops. I almost have more coops than chickens, but I think I will be repairing that imbalance at the show.). Send me a PM if you need help still ... I'll go empty my bos, I noticed I'm at 98% capacity.

The power went out again & my bator went hay wire.
Egg temp dipped to 94 when I came home.
Has anyone tried a battery back up?
I am wondering if I can rig an commercial (restaurant stlye) emergency light to attach a socket to it & plug in my bator. The lights plug to the wall & comes on when the power is out.
I'm wondering if I can yank out those lights & hook up my bator to it.
It will run up to 4 hrs.
Anyone tried that?

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Yes, RedReiner who also lives in Monroe has offered to come get the table and Robin's raffle items from me tomorrow. But thanks for the offer. :-)

That's what we have - worked great for a few years and is now getting a bit finicky. Maybe I put too much litter in, or maybe my cat is getting curious again and stepping in to examine the thing when it turns. I often find the little red light flashing and it is stopped mid-way through a cycle. One of my cats loves it, and the other won't gonear it, even after 4 years!

not quite -- it's a 3-pan litter box

two solid pans -- and one that has a plastic mesh bottom

all three nest together with the mesh bottom one on top

lift that when you need to scoop litter, the relatively clean litter falls through, the clumps stay

dump the mesh bottom one wherever you dump used litter

then, separate the two solid pans --- put the mesh bottom one (freshly cleaned ?) inside the pan that was on the bottom (also clean)

dump the relatively clean litter from the pan it filtered into --- into the pan with the mesh bottom, which is inside the other solid one

rinse that solid one you just dumped out, and put it on the bottom of the stack, then put the privacy cover back on the whole shebang

not mechanized, just easy -- no manual scooping, and far less dust

The dust is what gets me, and my cat is sort of like my hens - like to roll in fresh litter. Nothing like picking up my kitty for a hug and smelling litter dust, Yuck! I might try the one you have, no mechanical problems there (other than lazy operator as is sometimes my case).

I just wanted to post some pics of my hens and roos that the eggs will be coming from for the Monroe show. These are gorgeous English line Orpingtons, some of the best lines in the country. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Great you are on top of it. I used to live out that direction near the Tolt Pipeline trail (Woodinville address, Redmond phone prefix and Unincorperated part of the county), and still head out there quite often as my friends did not move with me. I miss walking the trail too. I used to walk it nearly evey morning from Mink Rd to where it overlooks the Snoqualmie River.
