It is usually the price of wood that goes up after a Japanese Tsunami I noticed.

Any disaster like that is going to mean us exporting our lumber over there, and great news for me building a house

When I was a teen in Alaska, it was a big controversy that most of the trees logged were being sent to Japan. Japan made them into products and shipped them back to the US as value added products. Don't know it is still so, as that was back in the 70's.

Something like this:

I need some new pictures, but here are mine under construction. They are up on top of the larger coops and "winter storage" for most of my bantam breeds (three of them)...my Houdan have a run now (year 'round) and soon my MFC will have one too. I'm still looking for someone to build me four bantam coops (maybe more)...but so far, I just keep getting a bunch of flakes.
A closer up picture....it's got chicken wire on the sides (the tops) and hardware cloth & wood framed door on the front. There is a roost in the back and a nest box in the corner.

Interesting. Sorry, you are not finding anyone to actually help. I am running through my mind how to divide my coop in half. I will need to do some work on paper to get ideas. You put the bantams in the slots up on top?

The photo just shows one of the three bantam bins I had planned. The issue I ran into is that the slide out "tray" my DH made doesn't slide out...not with packed shavings and poo on it...so this summer, I'm getting custom made wire cages with 3" plastic pans made by BASS that will fit up there. And yes, the bantams live up in those slots and it's supposed to be just for the winter. I'm trying to find someone to make some bantam coops so they'll have access to outside during the breeding season. But so far, just a bunch of flakes.

I just had Fern put down, and now I feel awful like I have failed her. Besides ongoing issues with stomatitis, her kidneys were failing. She stopped eating on Friday, I was hoping she would start to eat again, but yesterday she looked stiff when she was walking, and this morning she could hardly stand. I tried using a syringe to give her electrolytes yesterday, and she really went downhill ver fast after that. I wish I had not done that. I just added to her misery. Not sure if it was due to her being born feral, but the poor kitty has been plagued with health problems, and she has always been extremely skittish, far more so than any other cat I have owned. I feel like crap.

I'm so sorry. But it sounds like it was her time and she's not suffering anymore. As pet owners and animal lovers sometimes that is the best gift we can give them after all they've given us.

And if she was born feral and had ongoing health issues, she may have had FIV. You did the right thing for her.

I have a clip crimper & a bag of J clips, and I buy heavy hardware clothe, cut it to size, and clip it together to make all wire cages.
To strengthen floors, DH used welding rod or heavy wire and clipped them to the bottom of the floors with J clips.you could make any size..but yes, better make the size that fits the pan.
bass has galvinized and plastic poop pans, and the leggs to stack, and the angle pieces used to hold the poop drawers are cheap & you can order them seperately.

RFF: Hope you get the flood diverted !!

I have not gotten any response form the Craigslist trailer, the inspector gets here at 1:30...he may not say a thing, then again...

I have eggs, and bowes and stuffing & bubblewrap all over the inside of the cabin..and paperwork, etc so it looks very shipping-office like.
We have our coffee in a thermos as we will say we made it at Mom's before we left this morning...as we live there !

We have staked out the building site, and have everything looking very safe, sustainable & farmbusinesslike.
Our garbage cans have bagged garbage in them (you can get fined for using a burn barrel) our burn barrel is sitting there with ashes in it and I am prepared to tell him I incinerate vaccine bottles, culled & dead birds.
It is illegal to dump those things in the landfill.
So, that leaves the 1/4 mile of electrical conduit on the ground..and since they all ready told me that Ag buildings need no permits and never get inspected, that takes care of that.
the meter & all were here for years, and have been inspected years ago so they cannot turn the power off.
They also cannot prove we live here.
That means sleep here right ?
I do eat here, most people do eat lunch and /or dinner at their places of employment.
We cannot work here 12 hours a day and not eat.
OK, I am off to clean poop trays and look very famer-like, eggs to set & eggs to lockdown today...later guys!
Thanks for all, although the trailer people never called or wrote
