Wow, your horses are easy keepers. I have two and they consume around 15 bales a month. They are wormed regularly and they are a nice weight. Can't wait for spring. I'll have pasture.

That's funny! One of my SLW has tried to make a nest in a pile of dry grass, but she did not lay an egg. They always head back to the coop to lay, unless I am just not finding them.

My hatchery NH hen, has been laying her eggs "while out free ranging" in a dog bed, on my back deck. Made me laugh the first time she did it!

I was up your way yesterday Heather... the rain coming down was INCREDIBLE.. my son and I were up at the ski hill and it was snowing up there like mad, but coming back down into the Valley.. wowie zowie...

Then we drove home over the passes last night, non stop torrential downpour the WHOLE way home.. talk about a white knuckle drive home.

ON that note, I am going to try and catch up somewhat, I haven't really been online (except FB on my phone!

I am so sorry. That has to be one of the most difficult decisions we make as pet "owners", but since we're responsible for their well being the hard choices are ours. I think sometimes our animals are able to let us know when it's time to let them go. It's a tough, tough thing though. Sorry...

We eat alot of rice here at home. And purchase/go through a 20lb bag of calrose rice every 2 months. We buy ours at Albertsons, as we dont have a costco membership. But we pay $28.00, or around there, for the 20 lb bag. How much does a 50lb bag cost at costco?

Well, I'm not sure since I've never bought it in bulk but got to thinking, it's probably 20# or 25# bags, not 50#. I'll check next time I go. Was thinking about the big bag anyway. So much cheaper. I prefer brown rice but DH was raised on the white stuff for every meal and won't eat anything else.

Well, there you go! looks like it comes in 50#.

That's a horrible decision to have to make, but you do what you have to. Compared to how she would have died as a feral cat, this was easy for her.
