Battyaboutbanties-I have 9 banties hatching today and tomorrow. No clue what they are because the eggs were given to me by a man(chicken guru) who works at a local feed store. Be fun to see what we end up with. Some of those will have to go too. Good thing we have a couple of local poulty actions here every weekend. I'll have BCMs, Amaraucanas, EOrps, and a few OEs on the 11th. This hatchititus is sooo much fun. Might just have to start doing it for other peoples eggs cause I ran out of coop room like overnight!

Ok so I have no energy to catch up, and I have missed almost an entire week. My chicks I got at the show from chickielady are doing great. Happy and healthy. Im not doing so well though. I came down with the nastiest sinus infection that I have ever had, plus DD has a head cold. Then yesterday my sister went to take her horse out for a trail ride, and my filly through a fit. Tried to rip down my hog wire fencing with her teeth. She wound up pulling one tooth completely out, and the second one was just hanging there... I about got sick when I had to pull it out with pliers... So now she gets to take bute for 3 days, and antibiotics for the next ten days. On top of that my daughters pony coliced last night. It was a very eventfull day here on our little farm.

So now you all know that I am still alive, even though miserable. When I start feeling better, I will come back on and chat with you all. Hope your week has been better than mine. Now I'm off to bed again.

my ducks eat the same stuff my chickens do- the Poultry Special... it's ground much finer than the crumble so they have to get used to that.. they love it now

NO NO NO just to make it clear I am NOT planning to do this. It was just a passing thought. And IF I did I would of course need to ask for help covering the cost. That is the way I do it when we are at the dunes. I plan a menu and everybody pitches in some $$. Keep in mind very few of us have our DW's along. So these guys would live on doughnuts and lunchables.

That doesn't work for DW and I want real food.

they are having a banquet on Sat night I hear, but biscuits and gravy...one of my favorites!!

Just so everyone is clear, the banquet you have to sign up for and prepay. It can go in with your entry form.

Sorry to bring out the baby pics but I couldn't help myself! These are the cuckoos we hatched last week.
They hatched on St. Patrick's Day so the kids dubbed them Patrick...

Several of us live in the north end. We're having a secret cult meeting next Saturday evening in Redmond. Rainwolf, DIY, Pitterpat Palace, and I live near Northgate.

Is it ok for their legs and beaks to look so yellow when they are little? Aren't they supposed to be more pink? Do they change color as they age? Anybody knowledgeable about Cuckoos?

If you want top SQ bantam cochins in blue, black, splash or white as well as frizzles in all aforementioned colors, or standard cochins in buff, or silkies in buff or white, see Sheryl Butler. I'm a silkie and goose gal myself, although I do have SLW LF.

Jean has SQ Ameraucanas and sebastopol geese and is over at west side for shows...

Dottie has Porcelain d'uccles and bantam cochins that are SQ

Kristina Korfus for LF orpingtons

Erhard Weiss for LF orloffs, welsummers, bantam wyandottes, etc

Steve Waters for araucanas in bantam and LF

Cindi Smith for anything and everything polish

Rick and Donna Hare (live on east but show on west side and elsewhere) for OEG and call ducks

Jen (jbear) for butterscotch calls and mille fleur cochins

Bob Anderson or Heidi (shoot, forget last name) for LF black, blue, or splash cochins

If you are interested in ducks, there's a guy with some pretty nice saxonies (I have two pair for sale... culled down from two dozen birds from him last year)

and many more.... although rebuilding his flock currently (from chicks) has so you would have to wait, Tony Albritton very nice LF white wyandottes.

Dan Jerome has great white calls and bantam white wyandottes and is very active in Washington Feather Fanciers.

Brian Decker is the go-to guy for bantam cornish.
