so if (within the year) i worked on making a home made electric wool spinner and i was able to make more than one (assuming the first works well) do you think there would be a small market for something priced (hopefully, depending on supplies involved) ~$150.

i am hoping the goodwill here in pullman (or antique places) has a good used sewing machine. i would take it apart and somehow put together the motor and foot petal. and if possible the "backstick" button for some reverse for plying.

i only just discovered spinning last night and have been wanting to try but they all cost over $400... so even if the motor lasts (according to the engineering geeks) 5 years that still can produce much more yarn than the average ones and would be cheaper....

oh maybe chickenrustler might want to try making one of these things! he seems more mechanically inclined than i am. i only know about computers, basic wiring, and sewing.

i realized that the more "downy" feathers can be used in spinning yarn for texture so maybe take a few sizors to the silky after all.....

spring fever.... i think my ADHD is in overdrive, cant sleep at night because i am constantly scheming....

btw, what model did pipsandpeeps have of the sportsman incubator and does she still have it? (it might be possible to still cancel the order tomorrow)

the one in kent is very popular... I think it is on tuesdays and right next to the transit station... I was surprised how big it was a couple years ago.. can only image how much its grown since I last saw it.

We'll have to chat about where to raise these meaties....I have lots of room but I'm not sure if I'll have the budget to build anything so maybe we can work something out regarding me caring/feeding them daily and you supply the coop or something? I only am going to order 15 I think because with all of the culls I'll have some this huge hatch I'm doing next month and the beef--our freezers will be overflowing anyway!

You not need to sterilize them, just sift the poop out with the cat pan spoon......like a cat box.

So for about $350 we have our second coop almost build, (including buying the nails, the lock, the latch, hinges etc) even the roofing and the blocks we raised it up on. we have an outstanding model in my opinion. Keep in mind this is not including the yard, but just the main chicken house body, no feeders or roosts, but if anyone would like to take a look at some plans or a material list just PM me, we have space and plans for 6 of these total, so far we have 2. so we're 1/3 of the way there.

Okay I just have to share this. . .


This is my "garden" for now. No, these aren't from last summer or anything, this photo was taken yesterday. These are tomatoes, peppers, squash, and melons.

Over 400 plants in this one room, and only 3 of them were planted more than 2 months ago.

Seen here, 3 one year old pepper plants. . .

And almost in full bloom! (the flowers are open now)

A few Tomatoes. . . Had to stake a couple up because when I moved them over to this area, away from another, they started to lean too much due to the weak lights earlier. We replaced them with even brighter ones now though, so the legginess should stop.

A "Silvery Fir Tree" Tomato, already getting its 'adult' foliage in. . . These were planted from seed just 5 weeks ago! I should be expecting flower buds soon.

Galeaux d'Eysines Squash - Planted from seed just 2 weeks ago!

A table full of squash, tomatoes, and peppers - The year old peppers far to the right with some high shelved young peppers, middle shelf melons, and on the very bottom of the photo are some young peppers and tomatoes, planted just a couple weeks ago.

Yeah those would be a good idea huh? Well You'll just have to wait a bit till it gets lighter outside, and while i don't also have to be at work. ugh. So when along this choice of lifestyle do my chickens start taking care of me?

Oh also Waldo the Orloff decided to tell the current boss chicken that it was time to shove over and he was to be in charge. The Snap didn't really agree. so we had to separate them, they'd been at it all day. but nothing to worry about, everyone's ok.
