they grow like weeds in the spring here and sometimes in the fall if its rainy enough and in an area recently burned... then again many forests where i live have burned alot so this area produces a few hundred pounds and it is spread over the elevation of the mountains through the season....

one of these days i want to train a dog to sniff for truffels at fir trees....

I have several patches that pop up in spring & fall right on the side of the road.
I have not harvested them, it was my thought that to leave them be, they will reseed and every year we may be lucky enough to get more.
We also have a rather large 5 X 6 foot area right in the middle of our drive way turn around, thank fully we do ot use often, that sprouts hordes of shaggy manes, very yummy!
Shaggies love gravel & sandy hard soils, strange as it seems, the little shrooms have no problem pushing up through long packed rock-hard rail road rock in our driveway that is almost as dense as asphalt.

Well, my Post Master called & wants chicks, but I cannot deliver, so he is driving up here and also bringing my mail from my P O Box !
Guess I better fold this laundry & put on a bit of make up..I look "campy" right now..(shorts, old paint spattered sweat shirt, kne high rubber gum boots, no make up...you know the look~~the PNW chicken farmer look:lol:).be back later !
Zgoat: I'd loan you a gQf rack, but how to get it to you ???

sigh. i am sad. my boyfriend talked to his advisor for college and they told him to do a medical widthdrawl because he is failing his classes too much to catch back up.

he has been struggling all this semester. and has had health issues. he is going to switch majors to general/ secondary education (he really wants to be a teacher, not a wildlife person).

he wanted to switch to central for their program but i think either he takes community college credits during the summer to catch up or he has to stay at UI because we know he is already accepted there and with his current grades i do not think other colleges would accept him now.
i love him and i know he has gotten farther in life than many of my friends have but i wish life was a bit easier for him.

i was failing last semester because i was sick all the time and flunked my midterms. mom helped me study for my finals and i was able to recover to a 3.05 grade.

sigh. college is stressful for me but i know he is a stress point for me as well because i worry about him all the time.....

any advice or pointers? anything i could say to him besides i'm sorry?

Not that I know of, be there for him when you can, not to the point where it drags you down too!
I think CC would be good, but if he can stay at UI to get his teaching credentials, that would be great.
The sadest part will be if his problems effect you to the point where you fail too.
College is a serious and expensive time, you really have to look out for #1 !!

College is high stress but for a relatively short period of time in life. The benefits in the long run will outweigh the struggles. If at all possible, he should do what it takes to stick with it if his health allows. Too bad he can't do remote classes from home. Our DD is living at home doing college which helps it to not be quite as much of a drain. It's only CC but our CC has some U degrees you can get from here.
Hope this helps.

Jean was talking about maybe bringing some Sebastopol goslings, but I don't know for sure....

Yeah I PM'd her--I'd be more interested in sexed (female) goslings and I'm willing to pay the price for those....but my MIL is also searching. She doesn't want anything ridiculously expensive--but I told her she needs something sort of rare and not mean!

Thank you for that!

I do show and I do cull for temperament, too. My rooster comes up and eats from my hand and will let me pet him. He doesn't like being picked up, but most of the girls will let me.

Speckled, silver and now lavender Sussex as well....

Okay what is "light" considered. I see white....but what is lighter than white? I think it is time for me to do some research on the Sussex. RFF keep me in mind.

Light is like the Light Brahma. It's a Columbian pattern....
