yes I was outside in the sun this afternoon
WITH the seven tweensters ... five/six weeks old and fully feathered as far as I can tell
their brooder got whiffy so the timing was great
DH set up the "screen room" for me, the old one that is getting bedraggled, and the chicks had a ball eating new grass, dandelions, and chasing ants --- the little black-and-white could-be-a-roo even found a worm, causing a racetrack of madly chasing chicks ...
I thought we had it made, for some reason they all piled back in the VariKennel when it started getting a bit chilly -- except, just as I closed the door, one decided to go UNDER the edge of the screen room, out under the big oak which is surrounded by Indian-plum and Oregon-grape ... and she didn't want to come back out ... led us a merry chase for a quarter of an hour until she decided she wanted to be with the flock again ... so I opened the VariKennel door just as she was approaching it and she popped right in
DH put together some new cardboard boxes for a brooder for them, he said the old ones were BEYOND salvage
tomorrow we start painting the coop, with luck by the weekend they will be in it
wish I had thought to tell DH to bring the camera
