I cannot believe FiL is driving up today after we told him there was horrible weather.
I still do not know if he is planning on spending the night at Yreka or driving straight through....hope he spends the night in Yreka, OR is getting hit hard with wind & rain and maybe snow on the Siskiyous Pass..............OK, I am off to drop off rabbits at the feed store in Montesano.
I hope everyone has fun at Stevenson...

Those birds at the show that were shaking their heads were upper respiratory...possibly ILT....

I will go and do some ILT research. She has no sneezing, wheezing, snot, etc. Actually after I picked her up and "roughed her up" (meaning I picked her up and checked her vent and felt her head and listened to her breathing and checked her over) she has been looking jst fine. She was just out there eating and drinking. I think I am paranoid. Overly cautious.

Also, you were the one selling the vaccines for chickens? I need to talk to you. I am hatching out some chicks and would like to vaccinate so I know that everyone is healthy. Please PM me if you could with information.

I did a quick check on ILT and she has none of those symptoms. She is just shaking her head.

Nope, it was pips&peeps (Jean).

Glad your girl doesn't have any other symptoms...just watch her closely....

nasty drizzly showery weather, so I figured it was a good time to get the hose out and power-wash the donated chicken run

hay is MISERABLE to get out of stapled chicken wire !

chicken wire is also excellent at scratching knuckles and thumbs ....

if it clears up later this afternoon, which it is supposed to, I will spray all the wood down with bleach-water;
at least this time I can do it in the open air

DH says the sand bags he got for me, are WET inside; cannot figure out how sand can get wet INSIDE
a plastic bag ... when the outside is dry ...
hu.gif

so I just sent him back to the other store to see if they have some dry stuff ....

he installed the roost boards for me today -- I had to go out and reposition them (further away from the walls)
but the chicks should get a chance to go OUTSIDE to their new freshly painted coop, later today

I'll rig up poop boards underneath, once I find out where they prefer to roost

still must figure out how to install the feed and water so they don't kick sand into them, or overturn them
when they are chest-bumping each other and exercising their wings

Could she have gotten pecked on by someone?

OKAAAYYY ---

sand is down in coop, chickens installed in coop, didn't take them long to find the roosts ....

of course, wouldn't you know it, they are all wedged on one of them, as close to the hinged window/access as they can get,
on less than a foot of roost board with the other 7 feet (two roost boards perpendicular to each other -- 3-1/2 feet long each)
sitting there empty

DH found some tiny worms and I found some baby slugs -- oh my they had a merry chase after the smart chicken (Dierdre)
who grabbed one ... and Moonlight (originally Dusk) the probable roo, pecked the other one right off my finger

he's so pretty I hope I can keep him, with luck he will have a quiet crow .... he doesn't know he is a roo yet

think of what Columbian genes would do to a splash ... will see if I can snag one of DH's pix -- they won't load on my
puter but maybe I can get him to stick them on Photobucket

six weeks old -- growing like weeds still -- they are GLAD to get out of the cardboard brooder boxes in our shower

to all the new people.. Im still trying to catch up...

Wild thing happen'd last night had DS and his wife over for dinner. I cracked a egg open BCM normal size. Will it had a fart egg inside of it, so of course I had to crack it open and it had the start of a yolk and than the white. It was wild. So the first crack had the yolk too and the white. My husband said what would you have done if it would have been hard boiled..
My son said if you would have hatched it does that mean it would have hatched PG..
