These people, and this thread has started such a problem....addiction....love...craziness for chickens at my house it is insane. But I agree with you...keep bringing it on. With chickens, I have finally found a thing for my DD and I to do together that we both love. She is having a blast with the chickens and I am loving it too.

We love pictures of all baby critters...Well, at least I do. YES, I would love to see it.

Well, not a very tiny baby; eleven months old, in fact. Mine is the roan facing the camera; the wide backed red next to him is his twin.

We have 9 chicks They will be two weeks this weekend. Mama is an eggselent mama. Wondering at what age they can be safely put outside?

Beef Shorthorns. There's a few of them East of the Mountains, but they're mostly used to improve size and milk production in Angus X breeding herds. We mostly have Angus; the Shorthorns are almost all descended from a heifer I bought when I was 15.

Do you have a safe area where she and her babies can be? I would think that in another week or two. Mama should be able to keep them warm, yes?

OK so I am not up to going through the many pages to catch up. We made it to Stevenson. Got SOAKED getting all my stuff packed in then went back to the trailer and I just had to try. Well guess what I am currently setting in the trailer connected to free WIFI internet.

I see jbear made it but haven't seen anybody else I know. I was afraid that my 8x8 space was going to look pretty bare. Well lucky for me the space next to me is empty And my 8x8 quickly turned into an 8x 16. I have my 3w x8L x6h rack filled plus all of my garden stakes and 2 3x8 tables covered! Now all I need is lots of sales tomorrow. I think jbear is hooked on my Raven on a post garden stake. Funny the reason I made it was because she asked about a raven so I decided to do it and put it on a fence post.

CR- You lucky stinker!!!!!

I'm so jealous! I'm sitting here watching a horrible movie with an awful headache! Waiting for the drugs to kick in so I can get some sleep.

Have fun everyone!

I tried once to give my Silkie some chicks, and she didn't seem to want anything to do with those nasty little things. But I am wondering that if you slipped the chicks in after dark that your broody may not figure out that anything is off. Just be very prepared to intervene very fast so that the chicks don't get cold or attacked. But it is worth a shot to try. I don't think that it makes much difference to a broody as to how long they have been on the nest.

Want to trade your crazy white EE for a not crazy brown one? She is laying for the first time in the past couple of weeks. I am partial to white EE. (I always give them a witch name, and it sounds as if yours could use a witch name, lol). Anyway, I'm partial to white EE, and I haven't any . . .

I have a pale cream, almost white EE who is currently broody. I put 6 bantam cochin egggs under her a week ago. My other EE laid 2 eggs today! Not sure how that happened! We found them in the the nesting box at about 1:30 this afternnon; there were no eggs in the coop this AM, and it does not look like the broody moved (she has bluer eggs).
