I am hoping to make the date for the get together May 14th. This way eenie will be in town. She is supposed to arrive back in Washington on the 10th of May. Will this work for everyone? We could plan for lunch maybe. Bonney Lake is fairly simple and central for everyone.

Hi, well it's central for everyone on the West side? Are you talking just a picnic or a camp out? If it's a picnic I can come up for the day, but, for me it's too far for the camper with the price of diesel, Enumclaw would be a little closer for me but, it's up to you guy's. I'm game to come up even just for the day if need be.

All that is being planned for in May is a picnic/pot-luck meal for the day. If you can come then I wouldn't have any problems with setting things up here in town. Eenie only gets to town once in awhile, otherwise she lives in Missouri, so she is the member of the day for this get together. She also thinks that she can get Kooshie to show up for this also.

So how are the chicks doing?

They are doing really good. They are tucked into the fish tank, and seem to be very happy with the heating pad that has the sand all warmed up. Tonight I went out and grabbed the 4 Marans and the frizzle out of the pen with the meat birds. I had to give all 5 of those chicks a bath. They all seemed to like the blow dryer the best. Their feet were disgusting. I am a little worried about the size of the Marans in the tank. They are so much bigger than the little chicks. I am going to have to change things around tomorrow. I also grab a little bird that is way smaller than the meat birds, in fact it is only the size of the Sussex chicks. I am now not sure what kind of chick it is, but it is way smaller than all the others that are the same age. It also had pasty butt, so it was a good thing I grab it and gave it a bath. If it is a meat bird then it is going to need more time to grow anyway.

The night crew is sleepy again. I also have another really great book to start tonight, so I am off to the reading room, until the lights go out.

the chicks seem to be handling the weather better than I am ---

I worried last eve when the forecast was for well below freezing, so I carried the ceramic heater down and installed it in the coop

this morning, the grass is still green (it wa frost-white yesterday morn and the chicks didn't seem to mind it)
so maybe I worried for nothing --- I am not yet ready to tromp down the stairs to see how they're doing

stupid chooks upset their new bigger water dish yesterday, got all their floor-sand soaking wet --- I could see it turning into a skating rink overnight

as soon as we rebuild the run to make it somewhat secure -- DH says he found a 50 foot roll of fence wire for $30 -- I'll move the water dish out into the run; maybe move the feed dish out there too when I'm beside them, supervising

they certainly enjoyed their "snacks" yesterday -- earthworms, pill-bugs, and baby slugs ... also some hapless flying critters

Gasp! Doesn't that just explain it to a 'T'..........glad I am not in the Carolinas, or the mid west..all we have is cool/wet...they have had horrific weather, tornados....base ball size hail...Makes me glad I just have a miserable wet cool spring, or whatever this is.

JB make sure you remind me about 1 week before...I will bring a big salad (Home grown) & probably with prawns or oysters like last time.
