Would one soak one's own head in bleach? Might be a good starting question.

I don't think she actually said she put the chickens head in bleach. She said she added some bleach to the water but did not say how much. Could have been minimal like what most people drink in chlorinated water? Who knows. She did say she put bleach on the feathers so can't really say how much actual bleach got on the chickens skin? I do think the berating she received was a bit much. Makes a person never want to ask a question.

There are some conditions that people are recommended taking weekly bleach baths (1/4c per tub, sit for 15min)...

and lets not forget that we DRINK BLEACH in our drinking water, and swim in it if you go in any public swimming pools/jacuzzi's/hot tubs etc..

Bolddog, i have heard of that too-- very dilute in a spritzer?

I hope she reads enough to see that some kind posters put up some helpful advice.

I cursed the day... I bought my first spring flowers and now the rain is coming down so hard it would drown a frog!!!! Well, at least it is not...s_owing! I don't even want to say that word!

Absolutely! I forgot about that! ( I haven't lived in a place where we get city water for a while, mines a well) And I haven't been swimming for a while either but, that's right! I guess it would depend on the dilution!! I mean she didn't say she poured bleach ON the bird!! Poor kid!

Just to be clear I do not agree with the way people have treated that person about the bleach and I only pointed it out to try to help others from making similar mistakes. Yes I don't think it was a smart thing to do but I think that the people on that thread could have used better ways to point out the her/him how wrong it was.

Now about buried things such as gas, water, power, phone etc. There is an 800 # you can call and they will come "locate" and mark them for you. this is a free service and should ALWAYS be done when using any powered equip to dig, unless you are positive there is nothing buried. Last I knew if you don't call and hit something you can be billed 3 times the cost of repair. Not to mention the risk of possible injury. If in doubt make the call!

NOOOO!!!!!!

I just put my baby lettuces outside 2 days ago, didn't have the right clamp sizes to do up protective hoop houses, and it is HAILING out there!!!

- RIP babies. Pretty sure there's a tiny chance of any of them making it past the hail.

Oh well. Plenty more seeds, just gonna have to wait longer for them to mature.

Hygrometers you can get either at Walmart, or I got mine at Petsmart/co in the reptile area. Mine came as a double pack with a thermometer and the hygrometer.
I candle at day 8 and at lockdown--and even then I just am checking for a full egg and taking out the obviousquitters and 'blanks'.. those eggs'll fool ya sometimes. You might think you have a dud, and lo--on day 21-ish you have a chick.

also--did you let your shipped eggs 'rest' for 24 hours? that was a lesson I learned the hard way

You're right, she did not say that. I totally read it wrong and over reacted! And now that I have taken my big size 10 foot out of my overzealous mouth, I'm going to use it to kick my self in the backside a good one in hopes that my mouth will heed the warning!!!

I have enough wind to last a life time! I thought Casper, Wy was bad! I grew up here and I remember it being wind but really? This is getting ridiculous!! We bought two pickup truck loads of compost, and just HAD to spread it in the wind!! (Do I have to tell you who came up with that idea)!!! Needless to say I was covered head to toe with this black stuff!
