Herbandteas-In Woodinville about 10 minutes from me. He originally didn't want to get rid of any of his EE's but was being nice to offer me one with the stipulation that I trade some eggs with him if they were a different color and to get him a replacement chick next spring. Pretty nice of him, and I guess I blew it.

Didn't mean to hurt the poor little girls feelings, "cause she is super cute!

Dont worry about asking to many questions. lol Weve all been there! Im new myself, but had a crash course from Chickielady last month with my first hatch, and I asked a bunch of questions every day. So I will answer those questions that I know the answers too, and leave the rest up to others who know better! Congrats on your test eggs ariving! Now the hard part of having patients sets in! lol It is sudgested to let them rest from 12-24 hours before putting them in the incubator. And yes, it is exscrutiating "sp?" to wait for the eggs to rest. lol

Good Morning! I traced all the air sacs on my first hatch just to learn and watch them expand. This one I did it just cause it was such a weird shape.

Rainwolf- I suspected a detachment at the first candle and that is why I didn't think it would do anything. I was surprised to see movement last night. Thanks for the info. I'm hoping for the best cause there are only 2 developing. All the rest were clear.

I candled my eggs last night, and pulled 14 definately clear eggs out, cracked them open, and it was like yellow water pouring out of the shell... There are also 5 iffy eggs, that I chose to leave in the bator, just in case. Was a big bummer to have 14 clear, and 5 way iffy eggs out of 30. But the rest have movement, with fetuses that look like they have HUGE eyes. lol was cool to see.

Thanks you guys! they arrived in one piece, one has a lot of poo on it? I put them in cartons pointy end down. in a cool room. I need to get a flash light I can candle with, now I need to turn the eggs every couple hours during the setting period right?

It's gotta be spring. Wednesday I saw swallows and my first humming bird. IT'S GOTTA BE SPRING !!!!

Excess poo can be lightly "sanded " off with an dry abrasive scrubby pad (3-M type)
let them rest at least 24 hrs in room temperature air cell up.
Then put in the incubator turner.
If no turner, mark X on one SIDE and O on the other side.
Put in incubator set at 99.6, and humidity 37-47 if possible.
And roll with your arm to turn 3 X a day if you do not have a turner so each turn either X goes down or O.
At day 10 or so you can open the incubator quickly & remove eggs to a carton & candle and mark any not showing veins.
Practice what a undeveloped egg looks like with a store bought egg.
Mark any "clears" (undeveloped) with a different mark (a check?)
Then replace them in the incubator
At day 17 or 18, repeat the candling..and all fertilized & developing should be dark, and have much bigger air cells, replace in the incubator.
The "clears" can be scrambled for your dogs or chickens.
Raise the humidity to 550-60% by adding a sponge, and do not open the incubator or turn them again..day 21 you should get pips, and followed by zipz & chicks.
