thank goodness for garage sales !
I now have about 20 feet of 4 foot high chain link (no posts), two ten foot lengths of 1-1/4" PVC piping, a 16" x 24" aluminum framed window with screw-hole flange, about 40 asphalt roof shingles, a louvered lockable 3 foot square metal door (think it was access on an RV for generator), and 12 feet x 3 feet of new vinyl flooring
all for seven bucks
the ore troughs are pretty much in place now --- I'm waiting for a bit more energy so I can move the existing chicken tractor out of the new run area and start taking it apart (am going to use some of the wood in that, to cover up some of the rotted wood on the ore trough sides, and reuse its chicken wire for run roofing
I may unroll the 50 foot of welded wire fence, let the chickens run around in that, until I get the corner posts for the run set up -- then me and the industrial staple gun will have fun attaching it to the corner posts and the ore trough sides ... I may temporarily use a big tarp for the roof area, until I get the rafters built
I was hoping DH would start building the frame to install the 4 x 4 window slider access for the run, but instead he is taking recyclables down to the Thurston County Clean Up event at the middle school .. bunch of old industrial fluorescent tubes which no longer light up, several old computer monitors, not sure what all else but it smelled chemical-y
