My girls LOVE banana!

Oh, good, because I thought this one was still edible and then I turned it over and it was all spotty. (I'm two, I know, grown-ups will eat bananas at all stages of ripeness; I only like them when they're still green at the ends).

Failure to post: I am also two because I was out there picking up slugs with my fingers to save my iris from being shredded & give the chooks another treat, since they distrust the banana slices.

Helpful hint: salt takes slug slime off your hands faster than greased weasels.

Nasty!!!! I threw the broody BO off her nest of plastic easter eggs about 5 times today. This last time she let out another big ol' nasty broody poo right on my shoe!

(at least this time it was not sized like something out of a rhinoceros), then when I stepped out of the coop, my nasty doggie licked it up off my shoe!!!!

No doggie kisses from her!

Well, after sitting thrrough the meeting on the Marans at Stevenson, the day after they were accepted by the APA, I was told by the guy (who seemed to know) that APA was accepting the French standard as the APA standard, and that they could be shown as of that weekend, so I have to assume they have a US standard if they are being judged by it????

And to the person who thought I was talking about a chicken "show" - no, I was talking about a poultry auction. Poultry shows are VERY low key compared to dog shows!

The Oakville auction closed down for reasons that are being kept pretty close to the chest I gather. Two new auctions have started up, in direct competition with each other. Both in Chehalis. One is at the Yardbirds (North end of building) and starts at 10 AM on Saturdays, and the other is up on COal Creek Rd, and starts at 11 AM on Sat. The Oakville guy suggested we support the Coal Creek auction, which is what I have been doing, but after today's performance, I'll be sitting down at the Yard Birds one. Gotta tell you, there's some great people watching to be done there... and people are selling goats and pigs, etc right out of their cars. It's wild. They also sell a lot of pens and things. I sold two old live traps today.

I wondered what the chances were of you talking about Coal Creek. We went once and never went back. I have been wanting to get over the other but have been swamped every Saturday. What is it like?

My BIL knows the Oakville auction guy and it wasn't any shameful reason they quit, just too much real life.

My daughter has to be at work at 10am Saturdays, so I'm unlikely to get there any time soon.

Auctions are as threatened by Craigslist as the Want Ads: they're a time sink for the sellers, and don't always lead to fair prices (as in your case); they're also really stressful for livestock and a place where diseases get passed on. Cattle buyers used to like them because they can be gamed to drive prices down, but with gas prices so high and the advantage of being able to see the animals being bought when they're clean and relaxed, with a trip that will lead to a transaction at a known price, even they are coming around.

It's too bad: auctions are great fun, and there's a diminishing opportunity to meet other farmers otherwise, at least on this side of the mountains.

DGOW... One thing I learned in my first career: EVERYONE has value. Even if they're miserable, you can always use them as a bad example...

And ABSOLUTELY! Happy Mother's Day, all my sistahs!

Oh geeze, you are so right about everyone having a value, maybe more than one but some only do have one, and it does indeed teach us all to appreciate what we DO have, brains, logic, humility, appreciation, and some are indeed luckier, but not necessarily happier....have a good time & hope ya win somethin' good!
Happy Mothers' Day to all!
There are men out there that have been pretty good Mom's too!
happy Mom's Day to you guys also!!

I am making GF pizza crust: Namaste Brand, love it~ easy & fast.
My back is killing me, and I still have a load of feed to bring in...ugh!
I am not shouldering feed bags right now.
I hurt my back, about waist high, a NEW place.
Usually down by the pelvis hurts, but this is waist high...it happened last feed run.
I ain't getting 10 bags for Weavagarden no more, can't do it..this old woman has got to stop doing that stuff...........used to, can't no mo'
Well, DH is finishing the green house frame, and I keep trying to put up plastic, and he ran me outta there twice now, so applesauce to that, and I am in pain anyways, so to applesauceville with it for today.

Got NO Mother's Day card from my son AGAIN, years & years in a row now...cannot even afford a *&^$#$%%! Card?????????????
I think I am done bringing him $150 worth of groceries everytime I visit him in Monroe.
I have to spend my entire visit cleaning & even scrub the toilet before I can sit & potty.......a stack of empty toilet paper rolls on the floor next to the toilet......they knew I was coming and still did nothing ?????
To you-know-where with that.
rant.gif

His girlfriend laid on the couch while we bought & brought & cooked burgers & cleaned the TONS of dirty dishes....and texted her friend on her phone.
All the while cranking on a Marlboro Red and there is NO FOOD in their house, NOTHING for the grandkids to eat...
Me thinks I ain't going to Monroe no mo.
somad.gif

Me thinks it is my Day and they need to show me, even then I ain't going there bearing gifts no mo.
Last trip was $250. worth of groceries, and the grump never stopped texting and helped carry anything in her home.
My son is a pig too, not just her, they are both pigs.
So how can you affoed $15 a day for cancer, but you cannot affoed a gallon of milk or cereal for the kids ?
Me thinks someone will report it soon, not me, but one of their EX roomates will.....
somad.gif

OK enough rant, I once again got NO Mother's Day card, no nothing....not even a Happy Mother's day e-mail.
^%$%^^^!!!!!!!!!! To my son.

Well, hello everyone. Hope you have had a nice day. It has been weird here. My father actualy minded his P's and Q's and my SIL had no problem not going up to Sun Mtn. But...two teenage boys decided to be anti-social and unfriendly - their problem not mine. My 18 yo rented a tux for prom, decided NOT to go to prom, but never canceled the tux...well I was not at all party to this entire situation...he chose to leave me out of the transaction. So he asked if he could ahead and go to prom since he had to pay for the tux anyway...I said fine. It is $25 at the door...and I told him that the $89 tux and the $25 ticket...don't come to me for any money...he had done this all on his own, he could get out of it on his own. He has been angry at me all day as he does not have enough money for it all.

We all had a good time and ate too much. Played dominoes too.

ETA: Forgot to say that the weather has been insane. Sunny - then raining like there was no tomorrow. Sunny - then rain again. Thunder, lightning, wind, rain. It is crazy. I let the birds out in the yard tonight to forage, maybe this weather chased some worms out of the ground for them.

So. I'm sittin' at the Legion the other evening and someone asked how my chickens were doin'. I told 'em they were growing like Kudzu and that I go to Chicken Church every morning.
big_smile.png

One of the dear grumpy older women (DGOW) asked what Chicken Church was. Told her that every morning I get my little bag of slaw, jug of fresh water and a hot cup-a-mud and head for the run. I have a folding chair out there and I just open their brooder, freshen their water and watch the morning explode.

My little bouquet of busted bums are about 5 weeks, and it's like watching a bunch of kids get out of school for the summer: Full burst sprints, chest bumps, lateral lifts, circle dances...!

How can you watch all that with your morning coffee and not think that God (Allah, Buddah, Yaweh, who or whatever!) doesn't have a sense of humor and want us to be happy?! It helps me start my day with a laugh no matter what's on the sched, and reminds me that I take things FAAAARRR too seriously. You know. Like church is supposed to do?

Well. DGOW lit into me, said that was just DISrespectful and irreverent, (as she tossed back her fourth or fifth vodka/cran), and I shouldn't call it Church.
I'm thinking of naming one of my Polish after her.

They're a little bunch of thugs and bullies!

So, just curious? Chicken Church; disrespectful? Considering my first career, I have a skewed view...
hu.gif

Well, I personally have no problems with it. I don't find it disrespectful..but hey, I'm from Omak. I agree with you...I think God does have a sense of humor and I love watching my birds. It is humerous, relaxing, and destressing.
