Anyone out there between SEATAC and Dupont area? I am coming up for a job interview next Thursday and thought I'd see what eggs were available in the area... The incubator will be empty that weekend when I get back and I'm not sure I'm ready for withdrawals yet.. LOL Shoot me an email or a pm if you are in the general SEATAC to Dupont area and maybe we can meet up and talk chooks...

SOoooo, I heard my little cockerel crow this morning. At least I hope it was him because if not one of my big girls souned a lot like a boy. It wasn't super loud but it was pretty. My big girls went into a tizzy. They didn't know what that noise was and freaked. It was so funny. It even brought my broody out of the coop! Then she got picked on by the others and went back in. I am going to have to watch her reintegration for a few days after I break her of it.

Oh I guess I better go cook dinner myself...and had a call from a guy, (this is so funny) about 1 month ago, about buying chickens, he had my card which he got from the feed store somewheres...and he was building a coop out of a decrepid green house that some "old hippes" used and it had been full of over 575 milk jugs all spray painted black & filled with water to collect heat.
The fiberglass rotted off years ago & the some of the frame was rotten as a result.
Yesterday he called me again, and told me he had his coop almost complete & was distracted by his rototiller & garden..(wern't we all?)
Then he had the run done & was ready for ALOT of pullets and a few cockerals too~~
OK I said.
I am prepared.
Then he called back today to ask yet another question (this is the hysterical part) He says, "You don't have any chicken poop do ya ?"
OMG do I ever !
I told him to come over & get all he can take outta my compost pile, I was wondering what to do with it all this summer it will pile up & bury us........

So tomorrow he comes to get the poop in dog food bags, and then the pullets at $6 each, and he said he wants at least $100 worth and then 2 cockerals, maybe 3.
SUPER COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND
Mario came right over with his wife & daughter and new bambino Julian, and toured the brooder room and fell in love with little black duckles........

How come we have NO DUCK SMILIES HERE??????????
IT is PREciduckish !!!

Maybe we can complain to Rob ?

Is it a breed thing to have almost all the Wellsummer HENS have spurs bigger than most of my roosters???
These are hens as they have been laying for almost a year now.... I just thought it was weird that the roosters were defeathering these hens when they are quite armed at defending themselves...

Ok, so really excited. So much so, that right after responding to your post, i had to go outside and clip the bushes around the pen I ll be using so I can get to the chickens. If the store was open that I buy wood from, I would have hopped in the car and went down there right away to. Can't wait to know if I'll actually get some this weekend. YAY!

Hey -- what is the max you are willing to pay? How many do you want? I am looking to buy pullets that were hatched around April 12, is that age ok with you?
