and speaking of horse manure, if you add it TO your existing compost heap, bury it several layers down, it gets it heated up and cooking really well
neighbor of mine used to board her horse at Little Bit Farm, and we had an agreement with the owners, that I could have "her share" of the stall sweepings ... they bedded the horses on fir chips, not straw ... and their piles were well aged; they chose to have several smaller piles rather than one great big one
Ok quick question, I have the binsea, I filled both chambers with water and i opened the vent all the way, If I read the directions right that is what you do?? can anyone collaborate? thank you!!

though even earlier was "will the last person out of Seattle please turn off the lights? "
OMG that's funny! I missed it Dang!! lol
well I can tell you that my sister and I were on our horses in our pasture, in Grandview down here, we jumped off and unsaddled and ran in the house to watch TV, Yakima got covered, we however got a sprinkling and were spared pretty much, then we watched in horror the news about the people left on the mountain...hm come to think of it, I have the documentary, think I'll watch that today!!!
if the documentary includes the commentary by my old friend Boyd Levet, say HI for me --- we used to hang around/ work at ... station KBVR at Oregon State in Corvallis
So far as I can tell, feather footed breeds need a dry run, covered if possible, and gravel down to keep their feet from the mud.
But all else do OK here.
T-Hi & BlueDucklings will tell you that the web footed variety do excellent here, especially if they have a sunken jacuzzi tub and a nice big flat screen TV with lots of movie channels, and of course, a 50 pound sack of frozen peas

I was in town clothes, ready to go off to a dental appointment and did not wish to hunt down the slug scissors.
The dental appointment was OK but got over after I should have eaten, and I was in chatty mode, got involved in a conversation with... OK, here's the deal: over my life I have several times fallen across crazy people on their birthday who *really enjoy* talking to me. Today it got me on the wrong bus, so once again I didn't make it down to the farm to take a photo of the new bull.
We all have our roles in life, I guess.
Talking to crazies on buses is a humane act. I remember one old guy on the NYC subway with tears in his eyes because I actually listened to him.
I was busing years ago in Spokane and an old wino sat next to me, grossed me out bad, smelled to high you-know-where..but I was dressed up for a job interveiw, he commented that I looked so nice, I responded to him with a thankyou, and then he talked for the entire ride..about 20 minutes all the while slugging on his bagged bottle of Vodka (at 7 AM) and offered me a slug of it several times.

Belated welcome to you too!
I am trying to catch up & read everything here...have you been introduced to the Seattle Chicken "Queen & enabler" Rainwolf ?
And of course SeattleDIY & Hallerlake are not too far away either.
I am beginning to think there is more chickens in the city of Seattle than in all the rest of this state!!
