One or two sips and I was so tired.......................eggz-hausticaided.
I woke up at 4 and of course it was getting quite light & birds want OUT!
Roosters crowing...
and I went right back to sleep & woke up again at 6, and then went right out to coop out.
Now I have to finish unloading feed bags, fill each coop's feed bin, and fill the broiler feed bin & mix the ground corn into it.
Meaties arrive Tuesday.
We had a mess of chicks hatch last night...and set another 34 or 35 eggs in another incubator.
It is dead still, mellow-cool and damp here...and the no-see-ums are clouded all over everywhere, millions of them!
DH & I sprayed ourselves, even the hair as the nasty biters walk through your hair & bite ya on the noggin.
I hate these bugs!

They will never go "away" unless we dry out.

Need dry & breezy.
They are poor flyers, so a bit of a breeze and they duck in the mud.
Right now they are so thick everywhere that you cannot walk around with your mouth open.

Are these noseeums because you live by the water? I don't think we have those here. I don't seeum LOL, or have any bites.

We have them here, too! They are invisible, blood sucking tyrants!!! Miserable!

Congratulations! It says nice things about the girl that you can't wait for her to be part of the family.

You've met the young lady in question, as a matter of fact, when we came to your house after the Arboretum Sale last spring.

Wow, those are gorgeous! I think I will have to hire you to paint something to go over my fireplace in the fall. I love them all! I love the horses especially - the blue eyes! DH loves cats, I bet that would be his favorite. Do you ever do lithographs? I wish I could paint like that! I'd trade my entire bead collection and my car for that talent.

My orchard has wee little trees that look odd and scraggly because the bears climb them for the fruit and break most of the branches. I've just about given up. Now when the bears knock a tree down, I replace it with more blueberries rather than fight the bears.

That is something I have always wanted to learn - bought how-to books and drool over the photos. I love working with glass beads that I have purchased from various artists; but I must resist yet another hobby.

Nope Im not up on the hill. Im actually right next to the Smythe Cedar Mill, and one property away from the Salmon Hatchery. 99% of the wood is directly off my property. There is one maple pole, the rest of the posts are all black locust taken off of my property. lol Will last a lifetime, and I was chastised by the Mill owner for using such expensive wood for posts! He told me that each 8' section of log, is right around $350. So Im kinda thinking that I have THE most expensive round pen around here! LOL

but the landlord wants it all gone.

Sell the locust and buy pressure treated 4x4! looks good but when you said it was 'solid wood' I invisioned solid wood. We had the coolest round pens in college. Solid walled roundpens that leaned to the outside. So nice for no knocking your knees! And you didn't have to worry about the horses getting their feet through the sides if they acted goofy. So safe. And the sand would stay contained. Would die for one of those round pens now.

Oh we are nowhere near being done with the roundpen yet. We still have MANY rails to put up, more as a visual barrier, plus I want a 18" rail around the bottom to hold the sand in place.

OH! And the tractor came a week early!!! Almost ALL of the blackberries are gone now! All thes really left is in between the alders where the tractor cant fit. That will be cleared by hand.

Well I have the tractor for another 3 1/2 hours, so I best get back to work.

Did you know that if Senate Bill 5487 passes, chickens that provide eggs for human consumption in this state will then be allowed 116.3 sq inches per hen. Did you know that the square inch total for a piece of printer paper is 93.5 inches.

What an incredible amount of work you are getting done! I am very impressed with the know how to do such things in the first place and the gumption to actually get them done. Looking forward to more pics.

I think if I were to park my car outside right now, the paint would peel off!

We had a momentary spot of blue sky, so I let the hens out to frr-range. They wandered toward the orchard, then the sky turned black and the downpour started before I even made it back to the house! I hope the hens have feathers left!

I think I hear the schoolbus outside, hard to tell with the ounding on the metal roof!
