The sun is trying to come out now...but it's still sprinkling rain...and now the wind is picking up.

The radar for this side is looking real GOOD come the weekend!!!!!!!!

I hope so, so we can pour the foundation !!!

DH and I are really sad, were looking forward to this ... Donna wanted to come but said she might have to cancel at last minute due to civic commitments or family things

most likely, any later in the year won't work for us, all the late-spring-and-summer volunteer stints are starting, so we will be in and out, and I will probably crash in between times ... seems I need 2 days bed rest for every one day I am up and active

would like to skip several of the events but we are long time volunteers, they depend on us ... had to turn down the further-away events due to gas prices, cannot afford 2000 miles each way even in the compact; with the motorhome at 7 mpg, totally un-do-able

not getting any younger, health isn't getting much better either

You are lucky you have not been here all ""winter"" with this non stop rain.........I covered all my plants/seeds with row covers otherwise the onions, garlic & seed would just rot.
I used 6 foot 2x4 feild fencing, cut is pieces about 2-3 foot wide, bend in a curve & push down into the dirt.
Then cover with appropriate width plastic & soil staple or shovel dirt to hold it down.
The bad part is watering as it will get dry in there..it is 6 of 1 or a half doz of the other.
Some of my stuff had to be uncovered as it was so tall....

I figured the sun would be out by now.

I know exactly what you mean.working on this little barn is gonna kill us both.
I just cannot hoist a sheet of plywood on my head & walk with it and push it up a ladder & screw it down like I could a few years ago..I have this little voice that keeps whispering in my brain "you know you can't get on the roof, right?
You know you cannot walk the sill plate like you used to, right ???"
I ignore the voice.

VelvettFog. Good job. You got your supports off the dirt. You'd be surprised how many people don't do that.

One thing I suggest and you will thank me for it later.......... and yes I know it's going to cost you but in the end every penny be worth it.

Extend your over hang in front at least another foot.
This will allow you to do all cleaning etc out of the rain.

Extend your over hang a a foot all the way around the other sides.
This will help your wood last longer.
Yes, when wind is blowing it will still get wet but for the long term it's worth it as 90% of the time the wood will be dry.

It also extends the dry area for your chickens to hang out in during the rain.

Only time no matter the weather my chickens are in the coop is to eat, sleep, lay eggs.

Having the underneath of the coop as their refuge elimiates costly roof in run while allowing more sun in the run on the good days without a roof.

By the way, thanks! I'm 42 and had her when I was 24.
She is our oldest and is a good kid! She has her moments when she thinks life revolves around her but usually gets over it quick!
I try to get her to realize what a blessing it is to be able to do college while living at home and not having to work on top of it. She is thankful when she thinks about it. She just needs a good kick in the pants from time to time! She gets that from her mom!( The kick as well as the attitude!)
I'm gonna need this summer off to get my guts ready for next year!

X 2!!! Belly bumps are cool!

According to RFF, they are getting rain like cows & pigs right now.
We are too, and the newly dug foundation footings are slick clay, and filled with water...

Just cruzed the egg auction AGAIN.sure ain't much going on there..auction prices are so low this spring.
