And, the barbie-que special, dark cornish chicks are doing excellent, and the Black Java and nankin eggs are doing perfect..I am stressing here as we put a new fan in the gQf..and it is not aimed at the water pan like the other fan.. and was not getting up to proper humidity..this is the first set in it since the replacement fan.
Now, since I fired up the big cabinet, Boldog is getting more eggs to bring over & set..she is so funny!
love Boldog!!

I am dense with geese hatching, but I thought you had to turn the temp down a day before & let them sit, unturned (a cooling off period) before pip?
I am trying to learn here..just askin'...or is that just with Moscovies??

That's unreal! Great that it's ok, though!
What kind of goose eggs do you have hatching?

Oh and BTW, your eggs went out today--should get them tomorrow or Saturday.

I know--I just checked on him and he's passed out. I'm assuming it's a roo because it's HUGE! If not, it will have to be BERTHA for sure!

Giant African Dewlaps. The American Buffs are due two days later. The Buffs are probably going to my MIL's pond once they are larger. I was originally going to give her the Africans but I paid too much money for them! LOL I only have 3 African and 2 Buffs left...the others didn't fair so well in shipping.

Nope--I take them out, mist & cool them for 10 minutes every night. Only hand-turning them twice per day. Before they are due, I stop turning and then mist them but I don't change the temp. The tricky part (for me) is keeping the humidity around 70% or so for the hatch without drowning the muscovies & calls that aren't due until next week and are in the same 'bator. The worst part by far with geese is the horrid mess they make in the bators during hatch. It looks like a COW hatched in there.

So I line the bottom with tin foil first so I can just pull it out & throw it away once the swamp monsters have emerged!
