Our two Duplex style coops, since they seem to be under discussion here! We really really like this type of design with the shelter beneath. Seems clean up is much easier too.

This one we built with pallets:

You can see it all under construciton on my BYC Page here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=22465-our-pallet-coop-duplex

We
liked it so much, we mimicked the design and built another off the back of the new goat shed here:

I mentioned a Korean breed a few pages ago that was black everything including comb and wattles.

And bones, which is downright thorough of them.

They are supose to be great to eat..

Well, that's mostly what Harbor Freight carries.

I love HF for disposable gloves, bungie cords, tarps, clamps, various doohickies like carabiners, casters, and things like pilot hole bits that get broken anyway or hole saws which are never any good no matter how much you pay for them. They also have a better price on hose menders, hose end cut-offs, and other hose related doohickies than anywhere else.

I'd be very wary of using a power tool from there, but I tend to push power tools to their limit, and a sawsall is not something I'd want breaking on me.

HF is also great for those tiny diamond cutoff wheels for your mini cutoff tool ... they are going to wear out or break no matter what quality you buy to begin with

amazing how many times you have to cut off something when the tool that is supposed to do the job, doesn't

nail -- rivet -- hose -- whatever

HF also good to get those Chinese cut-everything scissor/shears ... whack what you want, never worry about messing up your GOOD fabric or paper scissors

somewhere around here are a couple of cheapie trellis arches that we got at HF a few years back and never used; I want those for the chicken run

also I have a patio umbrella from HF -- from the parking lot sale, think I paid $4 -- which I want to put underneath to "tent up" the tarp over the chicken run, so it drains properly -- until I can get enough help to put an arch of fence wire over the top of the run

my idea of using the 1-1/4 PVC pipes to make a trellis top, didn't work that well, the fence wire sagged under wind/rain load

I've gotten trellises from Michael's and from Tuesday Morning for under $20 each; they're highly useful things. I dought a box with a hundred cut-off wheels when I got my last Dremel; it's the Li battery on that which is funky and needs replaced. I've got a deck screw protruding into the doorway of the coop caused by the old drill with the wonky shaft/chuck and I'm going to have to use one of my old Dremel's to cut it off because the new one won't hold a charge for beans.

Assuming I do anything today; I was sick last night and feel like the dog's breakfast right now.

Hello everyone,

I only recently realized that T-Hi is not on the site anymore because of moving issues.

I bought two ducks from her and I guess counted on her to answer questions for me.

The ducks are a good size now and will have to go outside soon.

Anyone in the BonneyLake/Sumner/Enumclaw area that can tell me where to buy good duckfeed where I won't get taken advantage of on the price? Woodchip bedding too!

If someone has a smallish coop for sale I'd entertain the idea of buyin it rather than making one. I only have two ducks and not a lot of yard space.

Thanks

Robin, I have NOT used Eprinex. I have used Ivermectin Pour On for Cattle, which is a different drug all together. I'm sure there must be dosage directions somewhere here on BYC. I think Speckled Hen has posted them several times if I remember correctly, so you can do a search on here for that.

I would LIKE to use Eprinex, but not until I've finished up what I have on hand.

Robin, those are both excellent prices for Eprinex. I pay $45-$49 / 250ml bottle at my local feed store. Dosage for Eprinex is 1/2cc per large fowl bird, and 1/4 cc per bantam. I adjust these slightly if a bantam is particularly small or a lf bird is particularly large.

I used it a few weeks ago. I got the 250ml bottle. It has way more in it than I would use but it was the smallest bottle they had. It should last me a long time. I can't remember where I got it.

Oh, by the way CL, the blue wheaten is a boy. But I think i am going to try to keep him. I will keep you posted and you will have first right of refusal if I decide to get rid of him. But he is pretty sweet at this point. As long as he doesn't get mean, I will keep him. If I hatch eggs from him and my splash Marans would I get OE'S? And what do you think I would get coloring wise if I bred him to my black Am?(EE's,i know) Interesting thoughts for me to ponder. Who knows, but I think he will be pretty. His name is now Maxim. He is not nearly as aggressive as my EE cockerel was. I got rid of that one a week or so ago.

yeah that's cool!! What i am thinking is reducing the size to 4x4 with penned area and making little coops all over the place. maybe if they are spread out, no one will see them all.

Ahh -- check this out then

http://roosterhillfarms.net/home

His design is a 4x4 Coop with a run of 10x4. Super cool for three or maybe four birds. I use a variation on this for my quarantine coop. (larger run, but it is uncovered.)

YAY!!! That is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. Now, I finally have a plan with finished pics instead of me 5 year old drawing abilities.

Will you come and build me one?

Hey--I got him first! Maybe we can split the "delivery" charge?

Wow - LUCKY ladies RFF and 4312! We need a Dave over on our side of the mountains. It's worth paying someone when you know the quality is there. Can't wait to see what he builds for you guys!
