I cannot take it.
I had a severe auto-immune reaction to both Afrin and the generic type.
I would do a sniff in each nostril, and witin minute or two I could breath so good!
Then the tissues would swell, twice as bad as before.
The sensitivity was so severe, my doc had to put me on prednisone for a week to get me off the Afrin.
During that time, I was up all night, ate constantly, amd ended up with a drug-induced (prednisone) reaction, AGAIN.
So many things I cannot take.

Oh, yeah: I've gotten to the point where I can't take most pain meds for more than a day or two without rebound headaches: acetominiphin, ibuprofen, naproxin... ugh. And I have bursitus in both hips, among other things (mostly repeated traumatic soft-tissue injuries and multiple joint dislocations). Last night I broke down and took one of my Vicodin, and I've been pretty much brainless all day.

Modern medicine is great stuff until it bites back.

I agree, and waite until I am screaming in pain to take anything..and then it is 325 mg aspirin only...the only other painkiller I have been able to take is propoxyphe
(aka: Demerol) something you do not just TAKE when ever you get a scrape~~~~~~~~~
Goodnight all, again!!

I can't believe none of ya called me on this. I did it just to see what would happen. Well maybe I have rambled on here so much that nobody really pays much attention.

I really hope I am the only one that is enjoying the severe effects of (hayfever type) allergies. Not that I enjoy it but hope nobody else is going through this. My nose is nearly constantly dripping and then there are the sneazes that take me off my feet and leave me eggshausted by the end of day. I haven't had it this bad since I stopped getting shots 12 years ago.

I saw the 'errors' but I didn't think it was my place to point them out. And I refuse to take this as permission to do so in the future either. There is no tone of type here so it is very easy for things to be taken the wrong way. Maybe I'm being overly careful, but so be it.

Fog

We just planted a dwarf apricot tree this spring cold weather got all the blossums but it might not have produced anyway. I can hardly wait

We have 9 mature trees in Northern California, incidently..last year they were inundated by foul weather, and this year I have no hope for any either....they should be ripe & ready to pick by June 6th..........

In case you all did not know, California is STILL getting monsoons & temps are at 40-50 degrees..........should be 80-110 degrees.

I have a very sick/weak baby bird. she is right around 3 weeks old. No snotty nose. No gunky eyes. Just lethargic. Dehydrated. has diarrhea.

My question: Can babies get Cocci? They are on medicated food and on water with electrolytes added. Some of the others in the pen are all fluffed up, but it is cold outside and the wind is blowing like H***.

I have taken one of my dog's insulin needles and I am giving the bird subq warm water. I gave a drop of karro syrup on her tongue. Right now she is sleeping under a warm light in the house. I do not know if she will make it through the night. We will see.

Any suggestions?

Are you going to set them ?
If so, I recommend you collect eggs for 6 or 7 days, then set them.
If they are dirty, you can gently scrub dirt/poop off with a dry scothc brite scubby.
Setting eggs every 6 or 7 days gives you time in between batches.
I have 3 brooders, new babies are to the right, the center is middle babies and the left is older babies with a door so they can go outside.
One they are a month or more old (started birds) they are sold, or go to the coops with the big birds.
Then each batch is moved to the left.
I have 2 hatching incubators and one big cabinet incubator.
I can set eggs every 7 days, and when lockdown comes on a set, it is removed from the big cabinet, candled, and good eggs go into lockdown in one of the 2 lockdown incubators.
So consider how you are going to work this all out.
Even with 1 incubator, 6 or 7 days works.
But you cannot keep opening your incubator to set eggs if any prior sets are in lockdown.
It would be very confusing after a while (it is confusing) that is why I have 2 just for lockdowns.

You do have quite the operation going CL! But this brings me to a question I've had for a while, that you've just brought up. When is a chicken not a chick anymore, but a "started" bird? Is it when they're a month old or more? And then, they're pullets or cockerels until they either lay eggs or... start doing rooster stuff?

Good question - great information to come.

Eat more of your honey!

Or sell some to me and I will mix it with DE and sell it as a cleansing/nourishing face mask. I just looked up DE mask and found a 4 oz DE and maple mask for $50!!!

Locale honey IS reported to help your immunal system grow accustomed to the local allergins.
wink.png

And it IS mighty good tasting medicine !

I bought local honey from flowering trees and other flowers, I get asthma attacks when the trees start to bloom. I took it all last summer and most of the fall and I didn't have to use my inhaler this spring. Now....I don't know if it has anything to do with the weird spring and wet weather but I am optimistic. I will keep trying this method. I will be getting more local honey this weekend.

I still so love your avatar. I want a baby Hoss. I was thinking it would be fun to name my orpington babies after Gunsmoke characters (Hoss- like you did) but could not think of any girl names from the show.

I thought Hoss was from Bonanza.

Someone in the Brabanter club didn't think much of me naming my cockerel Blondie, but Clint Eastwood was called Blondie in the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Can't get much more masculine than that.

DH just corrected me...You are right. It was Bonanza. Sorry, got my facts messed up. long day.

I think Blondie is a great name for a roo.
