Yeah...this is the 3 hour test. She said I have to fast (nothing but water) from the night before. Then they will draw my blood when I get there. Then I drink the glucose--which wasn't a cup--it was a BIG bottle of crap! Then I wait an hour, they draw my blood. Then I wait another hours, they draw my blood. And finally, another hour and another blood draw!

They can never find veins on me so I'll be getting stabbed in my hands & wrists, more than likely.

try to drink as much water as you can to hydrate yourself, it helps them find those stupid veins, I'v had to have IV's in the back of my hands before---ugh! Good luck and I pray you don't have to do bedrest. done that too 8 weeks of heck.

Gawd--I hope not! I am already feeling inadequate, lazy, fat and restricted!

They will no doubt have you cut carbs, potatoes, bread, rice, dairy, all the white stuff.
Certain vegies, like peas & squash have high carb sugars...it will make you crazy.

Oh great!

I like potatoes but I'm not a big bread person...dairy is okay...I like jasmine rice.

Peas & squash? I just planted A TON of both in my garden!

Although with our mid-40s weather, dark/cloudy and pouring rain--who knows if I'll get a garden this year?

Rice, peas, carrots, corn, banana, chips, crackers, visions of goodies and the list goes on and on and on and on....... you will feel like a dang mad scientest when it comes to figuring out what you can eat. And DH needs to get on board with ya. Not that he needs it but it will make it much easier for you. But there is hope. If you get ahold of it now you may be able to avoid insulin injections. DW gets 6 injections a day plus pills 3 times a day. Get as much exercise as is safe for you and baby ( and just walking counts alot) and drink plenty of water.

I am fearing the sticks you will have to have.
I have Raynaud's syndrom..and everytime in the cold hospital my veins shrink up and totally disapear, while extremities turn blue.
There is no blood flow.
I told them a few times NO bloodflow.
They give me hand warmers to place on my arms & hands to get the veins to puff up & stay open.
Maybe take some hand warmers (the chemical type) with you.
break a few open & shake, then place them on your anticubital fossa (inside elbow) and top of hand..see if that helps to keep the veins big & open..good luck sweetheart!!
When is this test?

That's a thought. I have poor circulation as is--and being preggo--all of my blood flow is not in my hands/arms anymore! Not that it was before I was preggy--but it's worse than ever now. It can be 90 degrees outside and my hands & feet are freezing! They are usually grayish-blue anyway.

The test is Monday morning at 8am. I usually sleep in as much as possible on my days off--but I wanted to go in, get it done and over with and be on my way for the rest of the day!

Also drink plenty of water all day the day before. Helps hydrate ya.

WOW how interesting. We have the same thing going with eggs AND DW has been on vita D since her last check up a month ago!!!!

This has been posted on BYC before. I believe people have said that they got D3 at the feedstore and it helped the eggshells.

Russ- hope my memory is correct.

OK, what did YOU think it was ????

Truly, I thought he had a pet dragon. There is a lizard (that the DH wants one) that is called a bearded dragon (I think). I thought CR had a pet lizard. Always was wanting to ask. Glad someone else finally did.

NO reptile survives me!!!

rain scald is a fungus... it happens to animals out in the weather... wet weather. CL probably has a better description but horses get it and a good anti fungal bath every couple of days among other things will clear it up

YUP that's it. But I can say that all of the time we had goats we NEVER had any rain scald on them. But had it plenty of times on horses. May be cause the dang goats were afraid of the rain !!!

Sorry RRF to hear of this. You will get nutritional counseling to help you figure out what works best for you. Gestational diabetes is a little different than type2. You will need to monitor your blood glucose levels closely and it is possible that you are looking at bedrest, at some point. I haven't worked much with GD, but as stated by Rustler and CL you will be limiting your carbohydrates especially the simple carbs. As I remember women with GD were mostly limited to 3-4 Carbs per meal. A Carb being defined as 15 grams of carbohydrates. And no fruits or juices before noon. Also between meal snacks. The good news is that it will most likely go away as soon as you have the baby.

Good luck

Russ
