Well, waiting for it to get dark to stuff 14 babies under Hannah. Wonder if she will notice? Hmmmm?

Today i finished a "lockdown" or "brooder pen". I had a bunch of space under my poop board not being used. No one used the boxes under this board. Didn't need the storage. Their food and water is outside under a roof. So I used the space and made a "lockdown" area. It right now has 2 gates...but will have 3 and then (somehow) a way to divide into 3 sections in case I need it or just one decent size pen. It will be perfect for a momma and her babies. Or new babies out of the incubator, etc. It is not huge - 8 ft long and about 2 ft high and 2 ft deep.

A bigger question is, exactly WHY did the fuse blow in the first place ?
You should (after this) get a wafer thermosts in there.
You can buy the whole thing on line at Randall Burkey for cheap.
feed Stores carry replacement parts.
What a bummer.
Seems like everyday has been such a trial for you!
Isn't it just light bulbs in that incubator for heat ?
I am trying to figured out why the fuse blew...
Putting a new fuse in just may blow too, unless you find out why the first fuse blew & correct the problem.

there are two 100w bulbs and a wafer and two computer fans.

I would bet that the fuse is too small for that amount of load. The light bulbs will draw 1.2 amps EACH 2.4 total. then what ever the fans draw and I would bet they are 1-2 amps each. So you probably need a 6 amp fuse provided that the wire is large enough to carry the load.

SadieSue, very nice baker's dozen! I love the combination. I've collected a total of only 14 so far and every single one adds a smile and a thrill to my day! Hen #1 is an Ameraucana and #2 is still in question, Heather thinks she might be a Sumatra mix. Can't wait 'til she starts laying to see how it goes. I'm really curious about your Barnevelder... how many eggs do you get in a week from her?

Are you sure you read that right??? I would think it is 125 VAC 5A. There is no way a 125 W fuse could run what you described. See a 125 VAC 5A fuse would handle 625 watts. Try Radio Shack too !!
