hey--lemme know how that works.. because of my cats and especially Farm Cat who is a Great Huntress, I DO NOT want to put out bait anywhere, not even in the shop which is completely closed off to the cats. There was a rat last summer in my garden that had been poisoned by one of the neighbors. I totally could pick it up it was so dazed. If Liger had found that, she would have chomped it right down and been a very sick cat.

We all have rats,
Imported, wild, native.
They are everywhere, and all especially adapted to what they need to do to survive.
You just haven't seen them yet...

I like my rat zapper. It's pricey but the batteries will last 2 years or 40 rats. No poison, no half-dead rats running off with a spring trap, and no dealing with a like rat stuck to the gluey thing. Quick, easy, clean, non-toxic, and hopefully humane.

So, how many rats have ya caught so far?

spot for my third run/second coop:

Sand has already been dumped....now to add the box. The box was built to hold all of our paintball gear. We have not paintballed for a few years and this box has just been sitting. I thought it would be perfect for a small coop. Up against my big coop/old playhouse, should work well to help insulate them and keep warm:

Poor little tractor did a really good job.

I have been pondering trying to lift the box, high enough so that the food, water, and birds could go under it. This box is VERY heavy. Not sure what would work best. I have two big doors that screw to the front of it...but I am going to put them on hinges and change the inside. The box is 4' x 8'. I also am contemplating building a bit of a roof with a slope to it, to help protect the box and create a covered area for birds.

I hope to work on it this weekend - and then to decide who is going into it.
hmmmmm, I wonder who would do nicely in this wonderful area?

Okay, thought I had better explain the yellow "shoot".....this is the top of the slide that I have not removed yet. And there are lots of little items that need to be picked up and organized better.

It really comes down to what do you want from your hives. I use Langstroth Hives and you will find them most popular. There are good and bad to all styles. I would say that if there is foot traffic close I would put a barrier like a shrub or fence in front of the hive. This will make the bees fly higher to and fro.

Well looks like the night crew has once again failed to report to duty so I am going to have to put the thread on AUTO pilot and get to bed. Four am will be here way too soon.
Hey where has JB been haven't heard a peep out of her in ages. Hope she is OK. And Eagle and T and all the others who have been Missing.
