I like my rat zapper. It's pricey but the batteries will last 2 years or 40 rats. No poison, no half-dead rats running off with a spring trap, and no dealing with a like rat stuck to the gluey thing. Quick, easy, clean, non-toxic, and hopefully humane.

So, how many rats have ya caught so far?

spot for my third run/second coop:

Sand has already been dumped....now to add the box. The box was built to hold all of our paintball gear. We have not paintballed for a few years and this box has just been sitting. I thought it would be perfect for a small coop. Up against my big coop/old playhouse, should work well to help insulate them and keep warm:

I have been pondering trying to lift the box, high enough so that the food, water, and birds could go under it. This box is VERY heavy. Not sure what would work best. I have two big doors that screw to the front of it...but I am going to put them on hinges and change the inside. The box is 4' x 8'. I also am contemplating building a bit of a roof with a slope to it, to help protect the box and create a covered area for birds.

I hope to work on it this weekend - and then to decide who is going into it.
hmmmmm, I wonder who would do nicely in this wonderful area?

Okay, thought I had better explain the yellow "shoot".....this is the top of the slide that I have not removed yet. And there are lots of little items that need to be picked up and organized better.

Well my swarm from last night is now somewhere in the neighbor hood. I checked tonight and they are all gone!

So I guess somebody else will end up with Africanized bees.

Well, if anyone wants to try the Hamburg Experience, there's a Silver Spangled Hamburg rooster in Everett, and three more hens from the flock where I got mine. If I had not basically broken myself getting the chickens I've got now housed, I'd probably go after them, except I also have a wether coming in the next few days and have no budget.

But, hey: eggs!
