Oh fun, I have a chicken named Ginger, too, she the EE. I named her that because she's the color of a ginger snap. What breed if yours?

likewise I have a Ginger chicken (yes she is an EE) --- but I think the Ginger who spent the night outside, was human variety, breed not specified ... LOL

OOPS, Sorry about that (red face). Thanks for not getting offended!

Cool! And here I thought I was being original! I'd love to see a picture of her. My Ginger is my avatar, she's a skittish little thing and doesn't want anyone to touch her. But since she lays such pretty eggs I still like her.

I started out "sorta" naming my girls alphabetically -- but it didn't quite go the way I planned

Becky -- because as a chick she pecked everyone
Christina -- as a chick, she had impressive "eyeliner" markings
Dierdre --- because she had a black teardrop mark below her eye -- she still sort of does
Phoebette -- because she looks very much like a wild bird
-- she and Dierdre are clean faced with black heads; the others are fully muffed
Anitra -- because she used to do this little dance step
Ginger -- because as a chick she was kind of mahogany colored, while the rest were blonde or rusty

then there was what turned out to be the cockerel -- who should have had an "E" name ...
he has had three names now, he comes to "Roo Roo Roo" -- and I am waiting to see what his full adult plumage will be

he has lost all the rusty colors he had, now has a black head with wide gold edging on each feather, white wings with teal ends,
silver-gray breast and body fluff, black and teal tailfeathers, and gold saddle and hackle feathers with some teal showing there too

If you go to my BYC web page she is the first picture at the bottom.

So, sitting next to the Tower of Solitude watching Elvis eat redworms, waiting for him to do something really cute, and trying to take a good photo of the bumblebees working the Geranium praetens to see if mine are the endangered PNW one. This was the last shot before the "Chip Full" warning: I go now to download to my archival account.

Had a lovely visit with Robin and her DH today! Always fun to catch up and she finally saw my birds in person. And she confirmed that one of my Ameraucana is a roo, which I was about 90% certain was the case.

Hoping he will get along ok w/ my Lav Ameraucana Roo and then all will be ok. If not, he's going to have to go or will end up in the freezer.

Then, DH's friend from work came by and bought 10 birds! Always good to have the numbers go down a bit. Of course I have Orps due to hatch tomorrow and I'm locking down my cochin bantams tonight, so more are sure to come!
