LOL, I would love to have an interwebby geek. In my household I am considered the 'geek' but personally feel I fail in that area since I still refer to computers for dummies and take my computer in for the fornications the others assault it with. I would love to be able to start my own website but takes time and experimentation. DH still can't even run the printer despite repeated lessons. Especially when wanting to print one page of a file that has multiple. He forgets to click 'current page' and I can hear the printer working overtime. Sigh. I think I have the potential to become geekier if I didn't get the 'eyes rolling' everytime I get on the puter. Oh, to be free from the bondage of guilt!

Not a light on. But off. Does making their coop dark while they are in it have any affect on when the rooster crows or will he crow even when its dark.

Roosters will crow, there's no stopping him. I don't think the light will make a difference. If you are out in the middle of no where, I would think having a rooster would be allowed? Unless the crowing is bothering you. You could close him into the coop at night to help muffle the noise a little. If the sound doesn't bother you, I'd keep him unless the neighbors complain. But if you are allowed to have him where you are, then you can tell the nighbors tough cookies!

Thanks WA4-Hpoultrymom,

Yeah we live out in the middle of nowhere in the foot hills of the mountain. 10 mins away from Granite falls. But its a community of houses out here most with 1/3 to a half acre. I had another Granite falls chicken raiser tell me Granite Falls does not have any rules on chickens. And so far we can't even hear him at night.

I haven't heard anyone say that since my oldest was in preschool(13+yrs ago) Her teacher was from Texas and that is the term she used to tell them what she wanted them to put in their chairs! There were only 3 girls in the class so she had a blast with them! Thanks for the stroll down memory lane!

I am up this morning seeing my oldest 2 off to camp in ID for a week. Gonna be strange being short 2. Since I'm losing my built in sitter/driver, guess I get to go back to being the chauffeur this week!

Gonna take my extra Roos to the auction this morning and see what happens. Hope to be bringing home that blue Marans cockerel to put in with my Wheaten girls.

Gonna need a nap today!

What camp?

We have checked out the videos for camp Grizzly & camp Easton. My boys are excited about being able to go there some day.

Our oldest is on staff this year at camp Jayhawk as a CIT (counselor in training), he is having a blast.

It's in Idaho... I forget the name but our youth group goes there every summer. Great fun and Bible teaching! The kids have a great time and are very challenged spiritually!

Cute! Is everyone doing ok together?

I just opened up the fencing in the run, seperating the younger ones from the older ones. So far, so good. The young ones(14-16wks) try really hard to avoid the big ones. The big ones really don't give a rats hind parts about the little ones. I am going to let them share the run for a few weeks before I put everyone in the big coop together. Should be interesting.

Just got home from work. Sick as a flippin' dog. don't feel good. Kids had swim meet today, both did well. Don't feel well, going to go to bed, maybe for the rest of the day.

Hello to all newbies....

Oh, forgot: I was offered a job at the hospital in the medical records dept. I did this for 15 years previously. A lot more pay. full benefits. Weekends off. Paid holidays. 2 weeks off paid.

well, no ones pecking...
Little is afraid of bigs, bigs are curious but afraid of little. Little moves and bigs do a nosedive into the coop. Little keeps trying to stick her head under the screen door of the run.
It's kinda funny to watch.

Oh fun, I have a chicken named Ginger, too, she the EE. I named her that because she's the color of a ginger snap. What breed if yours?

likewise I have a Ginger chicken (yes she is an EE) --- but I think the Ginger who spent the night outside, was human variety, breed not specified ... LOL
