Hey there again all.
Been a LONG time since I've been here (well, long as in comparison to my usual breaks of, umm, a couple hours? a day?)
Anyway, since tonight I've actually got little enough to do - I feel it is time I finally take a stop by here and say hello.
I believe you've heard I thinned my flock, was a very hard thing and also easy thing to do (hard to choose who to get rid of, easy to actually sell them) I've also got no more goats or even my Yak. Yep, no Yak. Although I'd love to think the new owner of the Yak is on this forum!
Beyond that, LOTS of work on the farm gardening. . . . I'm even growing bananas. This here is one of my many beloved babies, a "Musa mahoi" also known as the double Banana, for unlike most plants who produce only one bunch, this one produces two to three. This baby grows rampantly, with a new and bigger leaf each week. Below at the base are little "pups," suckers who will also grow to be banana trees in the future. This photo was taken about a week ago, and the plant has already uncurled the current leaf sticking out and developed 1 more leaf since then. This banana plant will grow to be a small 6 feet tall, while my other varieties will grow to the height of the top of the greenhouse (12-13 feet)
I'm also enjoying a bounty of heirloom tomatoes, corn, beans, peppers, melons, watermelons (to my surprise, growing and producing like CRAZY) tomatillos, eggplants, figs, and more - All in my brand new greenhouse!
( This photo was taken months ago, as you may tell from the Elderberry flowers )
The greenhouse is practically growing out of control, and though it is a lot of daily work, plus the rest around the farm, I'm loving it.
(most of the time)
So, how's everyone else? And how's peoples' gardens?
