I actually have a patch of BB -- but never any fruit. They are on the hill side near the shop. I am forced to spot spray the Scotch Thistle that I see on my property - and when I moved in, there were many thistles among the BB. So most of the BB are dead now from repeated applications of 24D. Not happy about being required to spray, but if I don't I can get a fine. Even without the thistle, on this side of the mtns, if we don't water it, it dies so they get just enough natrual moisture to grow a little, but not really produce fruit. Any fruit that is produced is consumed (I reckon) by the 70 to 100 quail that call my hillside 'home'. I have a spring time creek that runs along the front of my property. There even the orchard grass stays green. I think if I put berries down closer to the creek that they'd grow and I'd be able to have fruit. I'd like both raspberries and BB's, or maybe just marion? Hmm.. I wish I had a few shares of irrigation

Oh -- and Scotch Broom would get me in trouble with the same guys that get after me about the thistle - so I'll pass. But thanks

BAD NEWS DUDE !!! You are spraying and want to have bees???? And eat the honey from said bees made from the nectar of plants sprayed with that stuff. NO THANKS

Hope I haven't missed anything else major going on! It's been hard to catch up here!

Busy busy week. As some of you know, oldest DD started Drivers Ed this week and we got her learner's permit yesterday. Took her out in our culdesac yesterday for awhile and she did great!

Also had to take our Kelby into the vet yesterday, he had a swollen mess under his jowls. Turned out it was all infected so he stayed the night for surgery and came home with a lovely drainage tube

and the cone of shame. And he stinks! Blech!

This is Kelby, he'd appreciate some get well soon vibes!

DH also took one of our pygmy goats with a leg issue to a local vet, and he says it neurological, she's healthy as a horse!??!?!

He's a horse vet, who right out told DH he's treated thousands of horses and only a few hundred goats, so I am doubting his diagnosis. She has a leg that she favors, it just kinds of hangs there a lot of the time, yet when the group of the goats is rough housing, jumping to and from their toys, she totally puts it to use. So off to do so more online investigation and I might pm Zgoatlady for advise on that one. Our Dog/Cat vet recommended this guy but we won't use him again. We had another name for a local goat/sheep/house vet but I lost their name.

And I am thankful it is nearly the weekend although their is much to be done. We are hosting a little July 4th BBQ, then my mom flies in the next day for a week's visit. And DH is off all next week so we had a bunch of projects that need to get done. And the house needs to get cleaned up good before we have vistors! But I am vegetating tonight and trying to convince DH to bring dinner home.

Sorry to hear about your puppy hope he gets better soon! and yea, it's much better to go to a vet who handles goats, most small animal and equine vets don't touch them and they have forgotten most of what they learned in school about them, unless they are a mixed practice of course! hope you find one to maybe get a second opinion?? I know I would!!
