Hey everybody! Haven't been around much cause it's been sunny here(up till late this afternoon).
Been busy, busy, busy! I'm putting dividers in the coops so that each one is a duplex. That means I've had to make double everything like nest boxes, roosts, and poop boards!
Some of my girls faces are getting very red...I hope that means I may get an egg from somebody soon.
Made some extra waterers from a BYCers idea. 5 gal. bucket and a $4 metal pan. So far they work great. Had to do this cause one of my Wheaten Marans was not being allowed to drink during those hot days. She is very passive and so she got dehydrated. Poor thing was in bad shape. We were gone all day yesterday so I couldn't monitor her. She is a lot better today, goodness!
Hoping to get to go and see T-HI and make a special delivery sometime this weekend after DH gets home from Vegas. He's at a geek convention/conference. Only 102* there and 75* at night.

I like the fact that it still cools off here at night even if my peppers would like it to be warmer.
I know I'm going to miss a lot of posts that I wanted to reply to but my memory is failing me at the moment so here's my best shot.

CL- Congrats on your hatch! Great %! Can't wait to see them! Rameses is doing great. He still gets pushed around by his girls but hopefully that will change as he matures.
CR- Glad your show was ok! Glad it didn't rain on ya! You sure you don't want this B RIR roo? Little booger pecks me every time I try to pick him up! He has a cocky little 4 inch attitude!!!

Jbear- Missed you posting! Good to hear from ya!
Was it CarolynO or Chickensforgramma that broke their wrist? Forgive me if I have it wrong! I have forgotten and didn't get a chance to post a SOOOO SORRY post. Our church piano player broke hers last Sat., too.
RFF- Nice shower and CUTE diaper cakes! Great low calorie option to traditional cake!

Glad you had a good time!
Amethyste- WELCOME TO BYC!

Chicken math is the only math here! I wanted 8 and now have 4-5 times that! Although I must say my urge for chicks has diminished for now. It will probably flare up again next spring!
Did I hear it was Pettec's B-DAY!!!???? Hope you had a good one! And you have a new baby at home???
Thought I'd post this for VFog. Cats have more than one use! Neck warmer anyone? No, that's not my cat and that's not me. Cat's end up living trees at our house. Our 2 dogs think that is best.

Cool! I've never seen a diaper cake before! That was one big baby shower, I think it will take a few weeks to get all those cards done! What do you still need? Your yard and your view are gorgeous! what a great place for a shower.

I had a very productive day today! Amazing what you can accomplish with no kids around. Been so busy, I'm just now eating breakfast! (Carnantion instant powder and a turkey sandwich)

I went out around 9 to let the girls free range, and other than a couple quick trips inside, I've been out working in the yard for 12 hours! I wrapped my dog kennel in mesh so the banty chicks can't escape, I then discovered the adult banties don't like the chicks, so I partitioned the kennel and built a coop under the Eglu Cube coop. I can tell that Harriet and Rascal don't like the partying teens that moved in downstairs. The muck in some parts of my yard has thickened enough that I was able to get the mower out to the orchard for the first time in 2 months. the weeds were so tall I could not see where I was going! I also finally planted the rose bushes and blueberry bushed that I bought a few weeks back, and I'm working on fencing my vegetable garden off from the chickens. They destroyed everything in it!

I have a seriously warped BO hen. I've mentioned before that my hens are not afraid of the lawn tractor, they follow me around hoping to eat any bugs I may stir up. Well, I think the BO is in love with the tractor. I did not mow until evening, all the girls were in the coop, but the door was still open. Well, the BO heard me start up the tractor and ran straight for us, right in front of the tractor, and would not move out of the way. I inched forward trying to nudge her out of the way, but she squatter for big, green Johnny! I thought maybe I could mow without her getting in the way if she sat on the tractor with me when I mowed, but when I reached down, she ran off. I took the opportunity to floor it and get out of there, and next thing I see is the little BO squaking her head off and chasing us down. I could almist hear her "Oh Johnny, wait up, my little legs can't carry me so fast! Where are you going to in such a hurry? You aren't trying to dump me are you? It better not be for that red feathered chick!"
