silly fellow! the grass is sodden with rain and dew (the neighbor is silly, I mean, trying to mow in these conditions)

;luckily my roo doesn't crow like my aunt's RIRs used to ...

his is more of an arrrr OOOOOOOOO ......... actually not as loud as a couple of the wild birds singing territorially

SC & NC is alot like WA & OR in it's climate and foliage.
I have spent time in NC & loved it, so much like WA..down to the trees, rhodies, and wildflowers.
I do believe it is a bit cooler here, though.

Definitely cooler in the summer, but about the same in winter; I've got a dear good friend who lives in Western NC and our winter weather is really similar.

I'm almost dressed for the day, although my lack of commitment is apparent by the flapping of my boot-laces. I'd be happier if I could crawl back to bed: my cold is in full bloom, and I feel as if I've been hit my a triple-trailer semi and hit by every wheel.

Hope you feel better soon!!!!!!!
Also hope that busy road did not claim your cat!!

Yup. Been through there on the way to the Ice Caves plenty of times. We can whine about the rain all we want, but I will take it over oppressive heat and drought any day. Yes, we are lucky to be out here.

I actually helped build the boardwalk from the parking lot across the marsh at the Ice Caves. That is if it is still there. I know they have improved the parking area. Worked for years for the Forest Service. Said Granite Falls but actually we lived in Robe Valley where you drive through on the way to the ice caves.

That is really neat that you worked for the Forest Service and helped build that boardwalk! It's fabulous. Haven't been up there in years though...used to go all the time when I first moved to WA and would drag everyone who came to visit up there.

For WA-4Hpoultrymom, the Big Four Ice Caves are 25 miles east of Granite Falls. Here is one of many sites on them: http://glaciercaves.com/html/bigfou_1.HTM

It's
totally worth it as a day trip with the kids. Just be super careful and don't go when the ice is too "melty." Since I've been in WA (16 years), I think I've heard of 3 people being killed or seriously injured from falling ice or sections of the caves coming down. Like any hike, it has it's dangers. But it really is a must see. Nice hike up and like nothing you'll see any where else.

Thank you for the welcome!

I live in Seattle, I just got my 2 chickens yesterday! One is a Buff Orpington, and the other is unknown? They're reaching 1 1/2 months, and are too young to tell what gender they are!

So it doesnt need to be bright white but just cant have anything in it. Does that make since.

Wow! that's amazing!

my 3 buckeyes are fantastic if a bit of a pain.... they will sit on my feet while I try to walk cuz I "might" have food!
I can reach down and pet them anytime as well as pick them up. they are large and getting bigger every day. I've heard they are mousers as well but mine are still babies at 4 months but they do try to eat my toes if I'm in sandals.

Apparently not, although there's the deep blackberries where things get hidden.

I can make it rain by going outside and getting to a point in my tasks where I can't just drop it and run.
