Guess T is sneaking up on me with Kaneke...and I just finished making a case of pineapple / apricot jam.

So, when do we get to see baby pics ??

Gosh, it seems like just last month she told us she was prego...goes so fast, huh ?
I know when you are prego it seems like an eternity !!!!!!!!!

Gotta go water the garden, hasn't rained here for 2 weeks and I am spoiled having the rain do it for me....and
YOU ARE WELCOME CR, and I sent a heads up to Laurie this morning...

wow, just noticed I have another award....sheesh!

and RustyHen do not worry, I have an arsenal of guns here & am not afraid of them at all......
It is the TICKS I am afeared of!!!!!!!!!!

Butchered 17 cornballs Monday, went well, I coned, DH slit, I dipped & handed them to him, he sat on a stool & ran the plucker then flipped them to me & I gutted.
Had 3 tubs of water, one for dirty birds, the second clean & the third clean with ice.
During the ordeal...a loose tick jumped on me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was not IN the bird..just riding along.
Do chickens get ticks IN them ???????????????

I saw no others but ya know there has to be more than one...I am NOT going up the hill to pick blue berries in that tall grass!!!!!! NO WAY!!!!!
I'll go buy some first!!

Tuesday we butchered another 10...now I have 2 cleaned, fresh & very empty coops...imagine that !

None too soon either, as the Rocks are about ready to leave the baby run & go onward into the world.....
Well, better go water...C-YA !!!!!!!

CONGRATS Heather and hubby!! Welcome baby Audry Lynn! The 4-H Evergreen Fair Poultry Superintendent's name is Audrey!!!

Good to see you CL!!! I've been making tons of jam too! But that pineapple/apricot sounds to-die-for! I've made Peach-Raspberry (my favorite so far!), Plum, Blueberry and Bumbleberry (strawberry/blueberry/raspberry combo). I was going to make the raspberry jam today, but I don't think I'll fit it in. Maybe tomorrow. I have 10 gallons of frozen raspberries from our own plants. Anyone have any other good raspberry recipies? I'm going to make Heather's Raspberry Crisp this weekend.

We are gearing up for fair here as well. The Evergreen Fair in Monroe starts on Thursday August 25th. They tore down our Poultry/Rabbit/Cavy barn as well as the Dog barn last fall, and now we are all together in a HUGE new building. So it will be VERY interesting having the dogs in with us this year!

The girls are each planning to bring 11 birds each, so 33 birds total.

Not quite sure what I was thinking when I signed them up for that many. So they are all busy doing posters, educational displays, working on their group presentation, and their poultry related arts & crafts projects. We decided not to enter sewing this year.

So, in case you want to come to the Evergreen Fair AND see chickens, here are your options.
4-H/FFA Poultry is there from Thursday 8/25 thru Monday 8/29 at 5:00. The barn closes at 5:00 for the kids to coop out.
Open Class Poultry is there from Tuesday 8/30 thru Friday 9/2 (I am assuming they also close the barn at 5:00 on 9/2 to coop out because the Open Class Rabbits are there the next day)

So, if you want to see CHICKENS at Evergreen Fair, you have to come before 9/2! And don't come after 5:00 pm on 8/29 or on 9/2!

Hi! Have you ever tried raspberry ice cream? It's wonderful!
Wish I could get to the Monroe Fair, when I lived in Bothell it was so easy. The Kitsap Co. fair doesn't have nearly as many chickens but it's still my favorite barn!

Have fun and good luck!

No, we haven't tried raspberry ice cream. Do you have a recipe? Do you need an ice cream maker?
