Funny, was waiting in line to use the portapotty, and out of one of the potties came this Demon guy.. All black, skull face, this bat wing thing on his head, and black bat wings on his back, he was pretty dramatic looking... the guy in front of me jumped and said 'holy crud'.. which was pretty funny. but the guy did look funny coming out of the portapotty.. Guess the bad guys gotta pee too.

Thanks Everyone for the kind words for Hoss, he did such a good job with his girls and tolerated Larry and the teenage cockerels. he challenged me a couple times but it was usually when things were hectic for some reason or another. we got along. sad I didnt get very many babies by him. maybe the eggs I do get will hatch and give me something.

Spent the day yesterday cleaning the backyard. This many chicks can poo a lot!

I have an easter egger trio auction ending today - two pullets & one cockerel - if you're in the state and interested I could meet you halfway.

I've already got a taker if I end up seperating the pullets from the cockerel - but let me know if you'd like Brownie the cockerel. As long as the plan is not to eat him I'd let him go for free.

So two weeks ago I went and bought two tons of local orchard grass from a farm in Pt. Townsend... Usually a very consistant supplier of nice quality grass... Well not this time. In two weeks I have opened 8 bales, and had to throw away most of each! Mold almost ALL the way through from one end to the other!

Anyways, I refuse to feed it to my horses, the owner of the farm is not returning my calls, and I am not comfortable selling it for cattle feed. As I dont know if its even suitable for cattle anymore... Does anyone know? Can this hay be fed to any livestock? Should I compost it all, give it away as erossion control bales, or fence of the larger sections of my fields and spread the hay out to utilize the seed???

What does everyone here think? Can this nasty moldy hay safely be fed to other livestock? Now keep in mind, these bales are FULL of mold spores... I would hate for someone to take these bales and have their cattle, goats, sheep, or whatever other critters it may get fed to sick...

Im leaning torwards composting or using it as seed. But oppinions please?
