May I join in too?

oh yeah! after being only child with very few cousins that I knew about, I just LOVE to find more cousins of whatever generation

if it's early Maine or Massachusetts .... it's probable

Most of my pre-Revolutionary family came to Pennsylvania while Penn was still alive- both Dad's (Bucknell/Meade) and Mom's (Mitchner/Stradling). One of my cousins on Mom's side is seriously in the DAR, and the elder of Dad's two sisters is the geneology maven. I'm sort of lackadasical about it, because everyone else is so far ahead, and the dead ends are so very dead (Irish Great Great grandmother with the last name of Mangin, two great grandmothers who came from Canada without formal immigration papers, and Bohemian great-grandparents with very common last name and not a lot of information about their families) that it's going to take a lot of travel to get any info.

much better to forego the bandaid types and use, instead, gauze pads or commercial panti-liners, held on with athletic type bandaging tape, the waterproof stuff, run completely around whatever got savaged ... after a smidgen of Neosporin applied (actually vaseline is just as good)

experience from DH repeatedly bashing the top of his (more or less hairless) head on the bottom of the airplane's throttle-body or strakes -- ditto running hands into those or other stick-outy sharp pieces of metal or fiberglass

I developed an allergy to neosporin due to another of my multiple screw-ups; I have this nice viitamin E stick that I use for everything from under-eye moisturizer to wound dressing. And, while I always have bandaids (which are cheap and adaptable for many purposes), I do not in fact have any of those other things. I usually have Vetwrap around to use with clean rag for larger or flatter applications, but that wouldn't be applicable to these scratches. These two scratches are tricky because they're on the back/outside of my thumb, the cat one on the web-side from the second thumb joint spiralling to the wrist and the wire one right at the ball of the thumb spiralling around and crossing the other one.

I used to just butterfly that kind of injury with paper tape, but the latex free kind is NASTY: doesn't hold any tension and the glue turns to guck in about an hour.

I looked at the wire I got cut on, because it had been safely bent and crimped, and all I can figure is that it was caught on the chicken in a box when he was passed protesting out of the hoop house.

we have tons of tape around since DS is very much into recreational competitive volleyball, and he doesn't want to admit he's not 19 any more (actually he could easily have a SON that age, and his stepgranddaughter is 9 !)

so he has to wrap this and wrap that ... the paper tape is not worth much more than a quick substitute for SnoPake, but the clear tape with fibers in it, is great, and so is the opaque white fabric tape -- the plastic/vinyl tape is better for mending shoes ...

oh then of course there is Liquid Bandage, for those odd places, and odd injuries, which don't "fit" any of the other bandaging options; however, given your history, could be you are allergic to that too ...

Hey, I went to Lacey yesterday!

I was in Lacey yesterday. Mainly because someone barely messed up, and someone else was very picky about it.

I went to Marshalls and bought cheap pillowcases. What a thrill!

Not allergic per se, but it contains the whatever-it-is that I perceive as a fragrance and which triggers migraines. It's probably a complex alcohol or an organo sulfite or the combination of the two. It shows up in laundry products, hair care products, and a whole lot of moisturizers and cosmetics. It was added to Johnson's Baby shampoo in about 1992 and Nature's Gate Rainwater Conditioner sometime around 2005. It is not an active ingrediant, so reading the label doesn't help. All I can do is stick to brands that are usually safe and be willing to throw stuff out when that doesn't work- I bought a the new L'Oreal colour riche age-defying moisturizer lipstick the other day, and there it was, darn it.

As sports go, it's pretty boring and expensive.

Well, it's nostalgic, at least: rain is preventing me from working on the Wyandotte coop.

This also explains why I am going ON so much.

Better go talk to the sheep, I suppose.

Just checking in....the dude was an under-the-table deal...no bond, no insurance. The lady who owned the school house has/had no insurance either....looks like they'll be getting the bill for the fire-fighting efforts (including lots of helicopter drops)....we lost about $1,000 of trees--10+ foot ones and a 5 year old apple tree....along with part of the dog kennel and several hundred feet of drip line.

Upset is hardly the word: perplexed is much closer.

*sigh*

In any case: first blood drawn. The chicken buyers bent a piece of loose wire, the chickens tipped their water over and then fastened it to the ground with a loop of grass, and when the latter let loose I caught the back of my right hand on the former, tracing a six inch scratch parallel to the one inflicted by the kitten the other night, so that bandaging the new without ripping open the healing old is going to be a challenge.

I'm challenging my own record for fastest use of 100 assorted size flexible fabric bandages.

Mondays. Never did trust the things.

Are those what I think they are? You tape them to your DH's head? Gotta see a picture of that!

yes, those are what you think they are, THOUGH I do cut them to fit whatever oozing substances need to be absorbed; often for a bash-scrape, the area is way too big for conventional bandaids, and gauze doesn't absorb nearly as well as the newfangled "it won't drip" personal products (which also seem to be more sanitary in their individual wrappers, than gauze in a pack or roll)

many EMTs actually carry sanitary napkins for use in those instances where they need to absorb a lot of "stuff" on the victims they are treating --- and they keep the Ace bandages from most contamination

Well, here in Silverlake/Mill Creek area its been raining a bit. It's a nice change tbh

I love the rain!

I did manage to get off my butt and feed and water the Ladies, and do the dishes. Oh, and made cookies for DH the spoiled man. And got stuff ready to go to work tomorrow
sad.png
But at least its a short week!

I finally trimmed the curly willow in front so I can actually park in my spot without being covered in branches. It actually looks nice.... wonder if DH will even notice lol

But, as I sit here and look out the window, I can see a patch or two of blue sky, and the little birds with the black masks <any one know what they are???> are hopping all over the little maple in front of the window. Poor kitties are going nuts trying to catch them!! I can hear the Ladies murmuring in the back atm...love to listen to them chatter to each other

It's been such a lovely day!! Hope yours all went as well!!
