Im sitting here watching the weather, the trees whip around, the clouds push through. And the lighting right now is really odd, with constant temp changes, wind doesnt know what direction its headed... Sheesh what a day. Took my DH to work at 2:30, and just about got blown off the road. Fun times.

I still say Im not worried! You may be our resident Chicken Rustler, but I still doubt that coming WAY up to N. Kitsap to rustle one small flock would be worth the trip.

Then again... If I keep picking on you about it, you might just do it outta spite!

One thing you would like about my flock... NO white large eggs! The silky lays white eggs, and I have no clue what the other two bantams will lay...

It just dawned on me how we can ALL be CR safe....get chickens that lay those nasty white eggs.

No rain here...just wind. I heard there is a fire in the Methow. Not sure how big.

Ah, yes, well, you're in Eastern WA. I wouldn't expect rain there with a storm this small, sorry

I only wish I was near enough to you city folk to collect your roosters for you. . . Out here if I'm low on roosters I have to do some serious and usually failed hunts for free roosters.

I could see it as a sex determination ray, so you could choose cockerels (or, OO! OO! a sex determination ray and instant caponizer! There ya go!) when you do not need more hens. It just so happens that I need hens at the moment, and the time I need cockerels to use/sell as meat is in the future after I have sufficient numbers to make that a sensible activity. A single well-raised cockerel would have the same effect as the single bottle of private reserve Oregon Pinot Noir a friend once brought to a party: spoils one for the cheap and easily available, and I'm not currently in a place that I can forego Costco rotisserie chicken entirely.

I'd also like to be able to choose the sex of beef calves, so that I would never have an embarrasment of AngusXShorthorn heifers nor watch an old cow finally deliver a purebred calf only to pull the leg up and see balls. All this natural randomness and lack of control is highly inconvenient. And nonfuturistic.

I think you and I chatted once....you are a trekky aren't you?

Been raining here in Renton most of the afternoon and evening. It's not a cold rain, just got soaked enjoying it.

Russ-I had to water a few hanging plants under the eves.

Somebody say Trekky?! Where?!

So these Ameraucana pullets that I have are coming up on 23 weeks in a couple of days... Their combs are red, and half of them are squatting...

Do you think its safe to say that I should be getting eggs soon?
