Not sure what some of that means, like "Black Orpington split to Lavendar pullets". But sounds like you may have some girls for sale? You are not too far from me. I am at Lake Tapps. I will have to look up Barnevelders. Don't know what they look like.

I got some birds from CCG just a bit ago. She's got a nice place and takes good care of her flock. In fact when I saw her post I almost ran and called her to claim the BLRW's

You should get those! and a Barne! and then some BCM's and then some EE's and then some RIR's and then .. and then ...

The BLRW's do look really pretty! I think I would like those. Tomorrow we paint, so we are getting close! Thank you for the recommendation, VF! Maybe we could plan a visit out to Gig Harbor in the next couple weeks, maybe next weekend?

Haven't bought them yet. Plastic are better?

The vinegar causes a chemical reaction with the metal not good for chickens.
we need a discussion on plastic vs. metal waters on here. good and bad points to both

Thanks Rusty -- I knew that, but a reminder is always nice

I'm very interested in this too. We have three different waterers for the girls, and the plastic one always seems slimy - even though I wash it daily.

Our plain metal 5 gallon chicken watering can does not seem to hold water after a few freezes outside.

The one watering can that is drained daily is the chick metal bottom with the mason jar top - again cleaned on a daily basis. I actually switch the mason jars out every other day & put them through the dishwasher.

But the very favorite water source is...the toy dump truck filled with rain water

There's always supposed to be an absolute standard against which animals are judged, but in fact there's a habit at smaller shows especially to take what comes in and judge it relative to the other animals in the show.

A shout out from Bainbridge Island! We're new to the chicken lifestyle. We're brooding a batch of mottled javas, dominiques, buckeyes, & polish. They're at 4 weeks. Will need to find a home for a few - 18 is too many. If anyone in the area is interested in some javas or buckeyes, let me know. Don't see those everyday.

Anyhoo - it's good to know other WA folks are on the site.
